From a biological or pharmacological standpoint...

Is there any legitimate or well grounded explanations for the commonly held belief (at least colloquially anyways) that feeding livestock orange peels reduces or destroys the possibility for wild dung inhabiting mushrooms to flourish? I know that some government regulated feed may do that, but I do not understand the mechanisms of that action either, though it's more believeable than the orange peel theory.
Also, I still continue to meet people who for some reason believe that dairy products completely kill your psychadelic trip. Or prevent it from happening. I know from first hand experience that this is not true. Why do so many people still adhere to this falacy?

If the government-regulated feed kills off or prevents the mushrooms from colonizing, what else does it kill? I find it really hard to believe that they are using something that exclusively targets psychedelic mushroom species...

Thanks. I thought it all sounded a bit fishy. It never ceases to amaze me how people will always dispense huge misconceptions, garbage bs as fact, and even to the point of arguing their case for the sake of being right.

Oh, I wasn't saying anything about it being wrong or right..
I was saying that if this were true, it's a very bad idea and potentially damaging to the ecosystem of the area. It's really hard to tell how the killing off of one species would effect other species in that area. It seems like it would be a really bad idea putting an anti-fungal, or what have you, in the food as these chemicals will get into the soil and inevitably disrupt the food chain in one way or another.
