Take casing out of container?
    #7939214 - 01/27/08 06:46 AM (16 years, 5 days ago)

my casing is in a Tupperware container and it consists of colonized straw and peat moss on the top.. Ive had one flush of fruits come and now my second one is starting to pin.. Ive noticed on the side i can see through the clear Tupperware there are a bunch of pins on the side that are growing up.

my question is

can i take the casein out of the Tupperware so all the side can fruit better and will it possibly make it all fall apart? I'm not concerned about stopping side pinning but i want to make these all grow to large fruits so i need to take them out of the container and just let it sit like a regular block of substrate?

Your substrate is straw, the peat is the casing.

You can take the whole thing out of the container. The mycelium will hold it together as a block.

That's what i did when i noticed too much side pinning and it seems to be doing fine. I used wbs + coco/verm though.
