The next offering from the best band going from the channels I've accessed, the Mars Volta's "The Bedlam in Goliath", is released on Tuesday. After hearing the new tracks like Aberinkula and Wax Simulcra I'm really fucking jazzed about this. Fusion jazzed. I had doubts about what the band might accomplish after the loss of Jon Theodore, but although Pridgen isn't the voodoo monster Theodore was, he has more than enough power while his style is of a newer breed than Theodore. We'll see how his tenure compares to the increasingly brilliant past three albums, but I think that major question has been satisfactorily answered. Not sure why they felt compelled to present Rapidfire Toolboth AGAIN but I think this can be forgiven.
The videos for the new material are funny too, almost like GnR videos for the Adderall generation. Give Aberinkula a listen or two.

I think Pidgin is just as good if not better than Theodore. I've been listening to the album for about a week now and it's simply another amazing release by these guys.

I have this album waiting to make my ears orgasm, waiting for some lsd to enter my noggin before I indulge.
If you guys like TMV you should check out the flower kings. Not very similar vocals, but the song structuring is very reminiscant of TMV =....very progressive 70's jazz fusion type stuff...

Yeah, Shroomery went down as scheduled last night in the middle of the upload. Not surprised it didn't work, try this one.
*WTMF? This is an MP3.

Pridgin is just as good if not better...
I'm inclined to agree with ya. My assessment is incomplete since I haven't heard all of the new material or future Volta material with him, but Pridgen is definitely the man. And as sharp as his rock is, I've yet to hear something from him as cool as say, the subtle snare permutations during the opening verse of Tetragrammaton. Or the part during the "Glossolalia..." or Cygnus...Theodore's playing is more refined and deliberate, more multitextural but expectedly so since he's ten years older. They are both monsters, both suiteable, powerhouses.

Is that the album? Think I'll just pick it up over the counter tomorrow. The next time I hear the first track of the record I want it to be in my car.
Sometimes I'll just go ahead and grab the leak. I think 10,000 Days was the first album I decided, to hell with it, I'm going to buy the damn thing for the 'liner', etc. when it comes out anyway, might as well listen to it as soon as possible. I remember with Frances the Mute though running out of the room when someone played it before I'd heard it on my intended first listen in its entirety. But other times I think: if this music is available now it should be heard now.
Whatchyawl think of Aberinkula? That second half especially! Great instrumental section.

Yeah, that's the whole album. Unfortunately I'm too poor at the moment to buy many CDs (if any), so I will have to save my cash for the concert or buy the CD when I get the chance.

Aberinkula is the weakest track on the album.
Try listening to Metatron or Agadez.

I just stopped listening to this album a few days ago, after a ~2 week TMV binge. It's good shit. Ilyena, Wax Simulcra and Goliath is my favorite 'part' (tracks 3,4,5).
