Stupid question about morning glory germ.

I'm thinking I'd like to grow some morning glories but I just read that you should keep the seeds at least 6 inches apart when sowing. Apparently they need a lot of root space.
But is that to say that you need to start them in a large pot? I always thought it was best to start seeds in as little soil as possible. So I'm wondering if I can just plant one seed each in a bunch of small plastic cells and then just make sure that they each have plenty of room if I transplant several of them together. That'll work, right? I mean, it's basically like a weed so I don't foresee much of a problem but I still figured I'd ask.
I already read about how it's best to nick and soak them prior to planting.

yeah you will get better plants doing it that way than just popping seeds in the ground 6 inches apart. I have started them in rockwool cubes even

Yes that's a good idea. And yes they need a lot of rootspace. Just make sure you don't break up the soil on accident when you transplant them, they don't like having their roots disturbed.

You can probably at least grow them outdoors as an annual where we are, no?
I figured I'd get some started now and then maybe plant some of them outside after the weather breaks.

I just put mine in a glass of warm water and I could see them sprouting about 36hrs later and then I just put them in their own little pots to grow.
