Any Kesey fans out there???
    #793615 - 08/03/02 03:42 AM (14 years, 8 months ago)

Ken Kesey is of course known an acid guru, but he was also an excellent (and often underlooked) novelist. I was just wondering if anyone out there had read any of his works...One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest...Sometimes a Great Notion...Last Go Round...Demon Box...???????

Also, has anyone ever read "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test"???

I liked One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Kesey died about 2 blocks from my house.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was a
pretty good one. And Sometimes a Great
Notion was no good at all. I didn't finish
reading it. And Sailor Song was okay but
nothing special.

I think you really only need to read One
Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Thank you for all your replies. Kesey was a definite fave of mine last summer, and I went and read all his novels. True, bivalve, "Sometimes a Great Notion" is a hard and often boring read until you get into it, but after that I thought it was Ken's most literary novel and comparable to William Faulkner's groundbreaking style about a century before. Most people I talk to about Kesey have only read "One Flew Over..." but that's cool that you took the time to check out his other works...

Thanks again for the posts, all!!!!

I have seen the movie for Cuckoos nest but have not read the book...

I found the electric kool aid acid test to be an amazing book about the merry prankster days of Kesey and his life in general..

It puts you in the mind of some of these people as they are making what they view as the biggest discoveries of their lives..
