3 weeks ago I recieved a spore print from free spore ring. That day i prepared vermiculte and brown rice mixture. I put the brown rice in a blender to turn it into a powder. I boiled in a pot took them out and tighten lids with an oven mit. I prepared a tent and got into a rubber suit and sprayed leysol untill i was sure that bacteria was gone in the air. Then i scraped the spores into 10 jars. it has been between 2 to 3 weeks since then and havent seen little to no growth in all jars. I was thinking about buying a spore syringe from the the little guy and trying again. hopefully with a spore syringe i will be more successful. im thinking about injecting about 3 1/2 cc's into each jar for faster growth.

Could be alot of problems. I doubt it was the spores if you did see some growth. Maby though. Maby you didnt add enough water to the mix and the mycliuem wont grow b/c of that. Maby you dont have them at optimal tempertures (80-83) and thats why they arent growing. Just start over like you said. I think 3 weeks with little no growth is more than enough time to start over...good luck

better idea to start the jars over instead of injecting it with more spore 'cause if it was some sort of contamination, then you wouldn't have wasted the syringe. i've had that happen before, but then i also get this weird contam that kinda turns EVERYTHING in the jar to dust... but what is also suggested is getting a pressure cooker in the beginning i was like "boiling it for a LONG period of time should do" but after the pressure cooker... i noticed the difference in sterility.

Open one of jars and smell it if it isn't growing to check for the putrid smell of bacteria but try not to over inhale it. Huffing bacteria isn't good for your health. If your jars don't smell of bacteria and they don't have any foreign contams then you didn't have enough water in your substrate. Also I suggest using spore syringes (pf tek) in the future its easier and less prone to contamination.

im suprised no one said anything about him "scraping" the spores from the print...
spores need to be put in a syringe with water to be hydrated for a minimum of 6 hours before they are to be inoculated...

You're suprised because you're wrong
You'll find that it is viable to scrape spores directly onto the medium.
