i usually don't use my rice cooker to create a complete dish, but i will occasioally throw in some flavoring elements to help with the rice.
Bay leafs, peas, garlic cloves, chinese eggplant slices....
garlic cloves is my favorite though, as cooking the rice and the steaming process softens them into a spreadable consistency, not to mention, the aroma of garlic on the steamed rice is very compatible with numerous dishes...

heh, i've had this debate numerous times with geokills cuz he insists on the same ideal.
although i personally feel like usin chicken broth to make rice sort of limits the rice's compatability.
not to mention, using a salt-dissolved liquid to cook rice in tampers with the texture, since the solution takes longer to actually boil and cook through.
but it is still something i would do if it's appropriate.
Throwing in garlic cloves into the rice cooker is something i only recently started doing. Throwing in a couple bay leafs is the Indian approach to cooking basmati rice.
I lived with an Iraqian who used to throw dried pommegranites into the rice cooker with rice. This combination actually works pretty well with very rich, mellow flavored entrees, like roasted chicken or white fish.

My Spanish rice recipe is in the brown rice thread.
No rice cooker required.

Same here.
I recently tried making my rice with chicken broth. I did not like it! Maybe 1/2 water and 1/2 broth would have been better. The chicken broth was overpowering. I usually add ingredients near the end. Cilantro goes well in rice as well.

I like to use low sodium chicken broth, or, as the previous poster posited, 1/2 and 1/2 water to broth. Add to this a bay leaf or two, a couple turns of the pepper mill and a pinch of saffron. Close the cooker and let it go to town. There's no reason this couldn't be done on the stove top, I just happen to use a rice cooker (I my Zojirushi.)
