I'm 18 and I've been wise enough with the money I've earned to put it away and avoid excessive spending; I've saved almost ten grand, and if I follow through with my current projects over the next two or three years, I should be sitting on a $50,000-$60,000 nest egg. Consequently, I don't have much of a desire for more money, because I don't spend it anyways, but when I'm in my mid-twenties, stuck in debt and poor as Hell, money will probably make me very happy. :awesome:

That is a good start however saving money will not make you rich, investing money will. So you should open up a TD Ameritrade account and get as many PPD stocks on the NYSE as you can. You definitly won't lose money on it but I am counting on what everyone else is saying will happen and they are about to have a burst of extreme growth since the national media campaign and people are starting to see it really works. I am going to buy as much as I can when taxes come in.

Investing in the American economy right now is just a pretty bad idea...

Right now is the best time, imo.  Lower interest rates and a stimulus package?  It's hard to go wrong right now.  People be covering their shorts.  :plot:

money is a lot like a drug

when you have a lot of it(especially when not expecting it) it'll give you a rush...and most of us spend time chasing after it cause we need it for whatever reason(and want it)

we're stressed when we think we won't have enough

and like all other drugs it can become the main focus in life and take priority over family or whatever else is important in life

true happiness and peace are achieved through relationships and positive actions(amongst other things)...like drugs, money can be conscience numbing

but its not like I can say "we're better off without money so its officially no more, lets focus on all that is good"

u need it to do anything including making a positive difference in the world(and thats not to say that I will but I'd like to hope maybe someday)

what you do with the money you have has a lot to do with wheather it makes you happy or not

Money buys me food, shelter, clothes, pot, internet and other luxuries.. which make me happy.

Not having money means no food, sketchy? shelter, and not much luxuries.. which generally makes me unhappy. Although I have gotten by with little to no money, which I probably could not have done without the kindness of others, for which I am eternally grateful. But I do not like to depend on other people or be a burden on anyone.

So I guess you could say money does make me happy.. as much as I hate the whole system behind money.. that is the world we live in, for now.

Yeah, I've been looking into investment options through my bank and online; it's a broad subject, so I'll take my time to make a decision as I have a few years before I acquire most of the money anyways. Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to check it out.

I have lost $400 on google stock this week alone. I wonder where that money goes.

Guess I picked a bad time to get into the stock market.

Maybe now that everything is so cheap, it would be a good time to get in.

Money itself sucks ass. But having it take away having to deal with the problems that come with not having it. As well as being able to go places you want and buy shit you need. In that regard its nice. It's a bit of a paradox - when you lack money you are effected by its absence. Therefore getting plenty of it is the road to being independent from it. Not too much tho, thats a problem on its own.

The absence of money will make anyone unhappy. Having loads of money won't guarantee hapiness either - if you have to buy friends, buy respect, buy sex, buy attention, then you could be miserable. Money will make you comfortable and allow you to have more experiences, but good relationships will make you happy.

What sucks more than being broke and jobless is having a job and having to shell out money every month to probation, drug classes, etc. Its such a tease to touch themoney and then have to give it away.

If you have too little money, it will cause unhappiness. If you have too much money you can donate to a charity and feel good about it

Many people in the Third World have too little money. They buy a bag of rice each month and thats almost everything they eat. Their kids have round swollen bellies because of protein deficiency edema. Those who can buy a bag of rice each month are the well-off ones :frown:

Your money has to be adequate to pay for the necessities and there should be a little extra for luxuries. You shouldn't go overboard on the latter tho in our consumer society.
