on top of that, i saw a head line this week that said "American women would rather be rich than thin" and it added to the list of reasons why i want to leave this country.
It seems like it's laziness.
I was getting fat before I started lifting and eating better, and it was AMAZING how easy it is to get in pretty good shape.
My workout buddy used to be 220 lbs, and he's much more slightly built.
Now we are like hans and frans.

I find obese people don't care much about their lives in general. Just my observation. I have no respect for most of them. Man, I feel bad for saying that.

fat men are okay, they are good spirited. fat women on the other hand seem to possess a hidden psychosis. i'm afraid of fat woman, they try to cover their envy and bitterness up with smiling all the time and acting like there's nothing wrong but on the inside they are full of burning hate towards all men.

Bingo. It's called self-respect. If they had any, they would actually try to be healthy. My old roommate in the dorms was obese, smokes more than a pack a day, and always brought home tons of nasty ass fast food late at night with extra for the morning because the first thing he did when he woke up was eat junk food.
He smelled SOOOOO BAD. I have ZERO respect for people like that. Theyre putting a real strain on our health care system and it's all coming out of our pockets $$$. We have to pay for bigger doorways, bigger wheelchairs, bigger gourneys, bigger beds, bigger toilets, etc. Even bigger caskets, but ill refuse to help carry that fucker.
The saddest part is that theyre going to die soooo much sooner than everyone else. Their knees and hips go out at 35 and then life sucks til they die at 50. All due to lack of self respect. The problem is that they reach a point of no return where it becomes impossible for them to perform physical activity due to there being no more cartilage in their joints any more. I guess they just didnt care about the warning signs. This is why they are WEAK. My girlfriend's mom is obese and wants nothing but sympathy for everything she has to do, like getting up to find the remote.
Genetics might play a role between a group of people who dont exercise at all. Some people will get fat, others may not. There is NO REASON, however, why a person with genetics condusive to fat gain cant be healthy from exercise.

But you have to think about it..some fat people don't see anything wrong with being big since they've been that way their whole lives. We are people of habit and if you've been eating crap and being lazy your whole life it's harder to get out of it...although it's possible.
I just think there should be more education out there about health care. I mean they basically took away the P.E. classes in my school and for what?
Then you have to think about the environment. If they're from a place where it's basically common and okay to be unhealthy they don't see the need to do anything about it..trust me I know lol. It took me leaving Mississippi to really 'GET' what being healthy was all about. Alot of people think "Well if I eat something that's low in fat and drink diet coke I'm good" Plus it's always the quick fix. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people go on diets just to give up because the change isn't quick enough.
I just think it's wrong to hate or consider all fat people to be in the same boat. Some people work their butts off and still can't lose the weight. Some people just work and sleep and can't find time to work out. Then you have the kids who are so used to being teased that yes..they don't have self respect and instead of changing the problem they try to eat their way out of it or rely on some sort of surgery.
I'm not trying to defend all fat people or anything lol but there's alot more to it than having no "self respect" Now I'm sure everyone is talking about the overly obese people who can barely walk but me being a big guy myself I just think it's rude to judge without knowing the story. Some people just don't know..and instead of saying 'Just work out!' try to find the root of the problem first.

youre totally right on the impact of their environment on their habits. Children gain the lifestyles of their parents...so you could imagine how scared i was to see my girlfriend's mom. But my girlfriend has self respect and works out and is nothing like her mom.
It's lifestyle. If youre over 30% body fat i think its safe to say that youre living an unhealthy unsustainable lifestyle. But hey, it's a choice. Fat people chose to be fat. Even if they see nothing wrong with it.

I wouldn't say all fat people chose to become fat (especially if they've been fat since 5...kids will eat anything and if their parents keep giving them ice cream bars to shut them up and sitting them in front of the tv..why would they object ) but it IS their choice to do something about it when they're older although it's hard.
Eating alot is a hard habit to break my friend but alas all things are possible. The fast food industry isn't helping though now that there are places available 24/7. Most people wait until they have to lose weight to do it though...and it's sad to get to that point but it's the reality of things.
Although landing in Arizona yesterday I realized I'm like the biggest person in this state

Those are bullshit statistics. They are based on BMI, not body-fat percentage. According to BMI Brad Pitt and Micheal Jordan, in his playing days, are overweight. George Clooney and almost all body-builders are obese. Sure there are a lot of fat people, but it's not nearly the problem that those alarmist numbers would have you believe. (I'm obese according to BMI but my body-fat is around 10%. Go figure.)
Also, it is quite possible to be a bit fat and still be in better shape, and healthier, than a thin person. In fact, most doctors will tell you that a little overweight is far healthier than under-weight.

HAH! I knew it.
When I moved up north I first became familiar with the stereotype that a lot of southern people are "slow, fat, and dumb." I'd just dismiss it and say that was stupid.
After being up here for over a year and then going home... I can't argue too much. At least with the fat and slow part.
I remember going out to dinner with my parents at Outback in Georgia and thinking "holy christ, they were right. Look at all the fat people waddling around!" And then I drove in Georgia again. The speed limit doesn't mean go the speed limit, fuckfaces. It means go at LEAST 5 above, if not 20 above. Just because you're fat and walk slow doesn't mean you can't drive fast.

Wow, I didn't know there could be so many open-minded, misinformed jerks. Hating fat people is like being a racist. Selfestem is something that a LOT of people have problems with. Can I ask you if you know why some people start taking drugs? Being over-weight doesn't make you stupid! It's a health issue, definatly, but how are you going to tell someone that they're worthless as a person?!

No. Youre Wrong. Fatness is a body's reaction to a person's lifestyle. Lifestyle is a choice. Some people have it easier than others, but there is no excuse to living a life of indulgence and excess. I love the diet pill commercials that cater to the fatass's ego by saying that the reason that theyre overweight is that theyre too stressed out. Know what the #1 doctor recommended stress releaver and anti-depressant is? EXERCISE. Most people are generally dumb, and fat people are known to look for the easiest solution to their problems. Why do you think that there is such a market for diets, drugs, and bad fitness equipment? They try to reverse 30 years of bad diet and low activity in a month and get discouraged when they fail.
Nobody is DOOMED to fatness.
All people should lead active and healthy lives. Being overweight is one thing, but there is NO excuse to be obese, now 30%+ of the population.
