Blind man tripping.

What do you think of the concept?
I'm partially blind and don't know any other people with diminished vision that have tripped besides me. Just curious as to what people thought of the idea.
This all started on another set of forums that I stumbled upon. The thread is: http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=279050&page=1&pp=10
Didn't care for the forums, but the perception from other folks' perspective interests me. And, next time I trip, I'll be sure to put up a report here.

Partially blind.. do you read the forum using a braille pad? Life has a way of dealing people some pretty tough cards.
It would depend on whether your partial blindness is due to damage to the eyes, the optic nerves or the visual processing parts of your brain whether you would get visual effects. Visual effects by psychedelics originate in the brain directly, eyes nor optic nerves need even be present.
Have you gone blind or were you born blind? The presence or absence of visual memories is important too.
If you dream with visual effects, you likely will trip with visual effects.
If you have recently gone blind this may compound the disorientation psychedelics can produce. If you have stabilized mentally with having impaired vision, your odds for having a good trip could be as good as anyone else's, albeit that if you have gone blind you are a person who probably has gone through a major traumatic episode, by having lost your vision.

Oh, I've tripped plenty... big fan of psychadelics. I was more interested in the perception of others because the marked ignorance on those other forums was painful. Looks like I'm in the right community of mature, intelligent people.
I get visuals plenty... though probably in different ways than people with full 20/20 do. Mine are far more abstract and require more concentration to manifest.
My condition is genetic, and has to do with my eyes being unable to process vitamin A. There's a lot more to the condition than that, but that's not really worth going into.
But it definitely makes explaining the visual elements of the trip highly difficult to explain to others, even more so than usual I mean.
I read the PC with a program called a screen reader. This one in particular is called Window-Eyes. http://www.gwmicro.com/

I know a kid who has center-blindness who has tripped many times. He has a lot of trouble explaining his visuals.

Can you elaborate? I'm curious.

Not really. I say I know him but it's more like I know a kid in a band who is friends with that kid - the blind kid, he recently quit the band. I don't know him super well. But he really enjoys tripping. Wish I could offer you more. Sorry.

I was born with a conginial cateract and had the lense in my right eye removed 2 days after birth. Needless to say, I am blind in that eye.
Whenever I trip and close my eyes, I can see closed eye visuals on that side of my head as opposed to sobriety. It's really intreaging. Otherwise, tho, thats the extent of it, no open eyed ones.

No worries man. Was just interested from a scientific viewpoint, if you know what I mean. I'm the only VI dude I know that's fucked around with psychadelics. I'm honestly shocked someone here actually knows someone else in a similar situation.
