Psychadelic community

What do you do after you've experienced disillusionment with society? Psychadelics have opened my eyes so much that I can't be content with many of the norms of (American) society, including materialism, shallowness, ego, and an everyone-for-themself mentality. This just doesn't work and I see major problems ahead for America primarily because of it's massive ego. It's hard for me to integrate or relate to most people on a very deep level if they haven't experienced psychadelia.
Decades ago, communities where people took psychadelics for growth and spiritual purposes flourished. Now what is left of them is all underground. I've felt like a lone wanderer in a desert ever since I got into psychadelics. Even those I've tripped with, for the most part, don't seem to really "get" psychadelics, with a few exceptions. And I've seen several instances now of people completely freaking out and losing it from the experience.
Where do you find psychadelic communities? Obviously we're on the Shroomery right now, but I mean in real life. I mean the kind of place where people take psychadelics seriously and understand their potential. Amazingly, I think Joe Rogan at least somewhat walks along the path I am talking about.

I have no interest in taking these drugs to get fucked up or to party. Psychadelics seem to have an anti-abuse mechanism built right in. When you lose respect for them, they kick your ass. It's a good thing.

I'm sorry to be such a grammar nazi, but it's spelled psychedelic, not psychadelic.

My Shroomery community is my "real-life" community. Some of my best friends are Shroomerites whom I see everyday. It's pretty cool when worlds collide like that.

Yeah. Too bad we don't have something similar in our culture. I guess they're called "hippies"

All it takes for a psychedelic community to form is for a faction of people who trip out on life to come together and merge their energies to become the collective Whole, the Us instead of the Me. The We, instead of the I. Unity in numbers. The many in the one, the one in the many...everyone is unique has something different to offer, yet we're all the same because we're all one. Social interactions are such a divine drama fractalized into an infinite array of evolving soul.
GESTALT.
The Shroomery has been incredible for me because through developing connections with online users and then meeting them in "real life" at events like gatherings it has allowed me to bridge the gap and find something that I've always been seeking, which are sincere, amazing, humorous, spectacular, beautiful, talented people of every kind of diversity imaginable who are my friends, on the web, on the phone, hanging out at one another's apartment, while caught in a dream, tripping together in the forest; it's just fucking beautiful to me to meet people who feel (more or less, in every way) the same way about CONSCIOUSNESS as I do...
There's a trust that develops and this trust is what the idea of psychedelic community in my mind is based upon.

When reality coalesces to be the same everywhere...when there's no consistancy for inconsistancy and it's smooth all over and events and people flood seemlessly throughout every corner of your life and it's all flowing together to be the same thing no matter where you look and all you can do is LOVE to survive the intensity of the reality blast cycling through the dimensional avenues of a being gone wild with the passion of an invigorated soul caught in the glory of the everlasting Present Moment...you look at the characters you interact with, and all the different times manifesting and you realize it's about US...GLOBAL CONSCIOUSNESS.
That is psychedelic community to me. I fucking love it and I'm glad to feel part of it.

Sounds like its just you man. If your friends do psychedellics and they don't change and you do, then maybe what you have changed into is your own self regardless of the drugs you've taken.

I had that problem too. Which is why I moved 2000 miles across the country to be around people who I resonated with.

I plan on doing that soon enough. I plan on moving Humboldt County, California in the next year or so to finish up a masters degree in wildlife biology, so I'm sure I'll find plenty of people I can relate to there, not to mention it's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen... huge ancient redwood forests, small mountain towns, snowy mountain tops, beautiful ocean and bay area..

Yeah in my experience finding people like we've been describing is very difficult. Not impossible, but very difficult. Most people that I've seen take psychedelics either can't handle it, or are not getting past the visuals. It's like the beauty and the majesty of it all is not clicking. I think a lot of people are frightened of looking deep inside themselves and it prohibits them from the full psychedelic experience.

It is difficult. I've been lucky to bump into some people by chance who are on my wavelength through attending ayahuasca ceremonies though i don't see them very often. After graduation my goal is to pursue permaculture in an ecovillage setting for this reason. You're unlikely to find any community blatantly centered around the psychedelic experience unless in a place where some form of it is legal like Peru but that doesn't mean there won't be heavy psychedelic use amongst communities that share other mutual interests such as permaculture or yoga or whatever. Though not all of them will support it. You just have to check out the vibe when you're there, don't be too blunt until you get to know them etc. Last village i toured didn't advertise anything psychedelic but the tour guide had a san pedro that was cut too close to the base for aesthetics and had decorated the entire community in psychedelic artwork. The following link can help you find out what's out there www.ic.org/directory/ If you just want to find people around you attend regional burning man events and you are likely to find a diversity of individuals who share a very psychedelic common value whether or not they all participate (plenty of them do...)
