question about pins, and thanks
    #7924189 - 01/24/08 01:10 PM (16 years, 8 days ago)

question first.
now i lok at some peoples fruiting cakes and they will have 3-6 established shrooms that are growing and nothing else. the cake looks nice and clean besides that. now, my cake has about 100 little pins ranging from very small to good sized. the whole surface is kind of uneven now. it just doesn't look very much like some of the others that i've seen. what can make that difference? yeah yeah yeah, FAE and misting, and dunk and roll. but surely that can't be all that determines the pinset. im kinda confused on that.

i know there is 5 posts a week about newbs like myself finally getting pins. this is a HUGE step for me. i have been reading about this process for years now. finally moved away from my moms and decided i wanted to try it. my jars started colonizing in october, and it took forever. then it took forever in the fruiting chamber. so now close to 4 months later, my first cake pinned up. and after a couple days i have to say, its a damn good pinset. i guess we'll see, i hope too many dont abort. if i can turn even 1/4 of the pins i have too mature shrooms i'll have a KILLER crop. anyway, i'll get pics as soon as i can.

thank you very much to all to have helped on the board. patience was the KEY for me. seeing as mine took 2+ months too long. but after A LOT of FAE and A LOT of MISTING i got it.

it makes me feel so accomplished, and i can't wait to trip on something that i grew. im so excited. anyway, thanks again.

now, onto monotubs:grin:
