Could someone please give me a good recipe/ratio for 12 1-pint jars? Sorry if this has been posted before, I just need to make sure I have enough supplies before I start getting everything ready and filling jars only to run out.

same recipe. you're gonna be using the same substrate.
for 4 cups(2pints) i use 2cups verm, 1 cup water, and 1 cup brf.
times 6.... to equal 12 pints.
12cups verm, 6 cups of water and 6 cups brf.
Oh and youre gonna need a bunch of verm for the top filter and birthing and fruiting, so its best to buy a crapassload of verm anyways. I ALWAYS run out.
I always make more than the recipe says because its better to have a bit left over than having to measure out and make more.
make sure you mix all water and verm, so that the verm absorbs the moisture and then slowly pour in brf little at a time while you are mixing so that you get a nice fluffy even coat with any clumps.
Pour into jars lightly , leave half to three fourth inch on top, wipe the insides of that little room dry and then put dry vermiculite all the way to the top.
pressure cook and follow directions and youll be good.

1/2 pint jars are superior to 1 pint jars when using brf. If you desire more product, use twice as many jars. RR

Thanks but I already bought the 1 pint jars, I guess it couldnt hurt to go and get some half-pints, might as well try both. Why are 1/2 pints superior?

Too much makes it too easy to get contaminated and/or stop colonizing.

Ya, I did pints and they sucked ass!! It took forever and started fruiting invitro at about 50% so I birthed em at 3/4 and washed all ther other stuff off. They were John Allen Strain. half pints are the perfect size. I just fill the pints with wbs since anything bigger always contaminated for some reason.
Not to hijack either a simple yes or no will do, if I blend a fresh shroom and pour the slurry over wbs it will colonize right?

Only put 1/2 pint's worth of substrate into the 1 pint jars and if you are going to use a dry verm layer, find yourself a long needle for inoculation....
If you fill up the one pint jars to the brim, expect it to take at least 6 to 8 weeks to fully colonize. I speak from esspuriance.

Damn, that kinda sucks. Good thing I asked then, I was about to just go ahead with the pints.

mine didn't take that long these are pint jars with some brf and some wbs . Brf took about 2 1/2 weeks and wbs took 2 weeks. The wbs has already been spawned and is eating shit as we speak. The brf will be birthed in another day our so . Here is what i do i just make 5 hole and noc the center and 4 on the outside. This makes it so when it is fully colonized i dont have to wait as long for the center and i use 2 ml per jar, so it colonizes faster so less chance of contamination. This doesn't seem to hurt my water content. good luck with your grow dude
brf and wbs at about 5 days

brf 2 1/2 weeks later

5 noc point is key for how i do my jars

wbs eating shit

sorry my camera SUCKS

Nobody needs to 'wait' for the center to colonize on brf jars. If you look at the four inoculation points against the glass, the distance between them is greater than the distance from each to the center of the jar. Thus, when the outside is colonized, the center is as well. We recommend waiting one week after full colonization so the mycelium can consolidate its hold on the subsrate, not to colonize the middle. i have had a lot of cakes/wbs with 4 noc holes on the sides not be fully colonized in the center.(I'm trying to find a pic) When it look 100% it has happened more then once so in my "opinion" make 5 holes, noc the center.good luck with your grow
you will find your own way of doing things that works best for you no mater who's says your wrong
