It was enjoyable, and more original than most crap being churned out.
It is hard to be afraid of a hotel room, though.

Dreadful film!
Full of plot holes, cliches and not one single scare.
All the way through I couldn't stop thinking "But why, why, WHY is the room doing this?" Having Samuel L Jackson say "That's one evil room" is not enough!
Also, no matter how many times it's played "We've only just begun" by The Carpenters is not a scary song.
Total and utter mimsy chuff!

It wasn't suppose to be scary I don't believe, more a psychological thriller.

It was alright. Stephen King-based movies usually wind up being so-so. The ending was crap. It could have ended plenty of better ways. Some of those ways actually being in the movie.
*SPOILER* Like if they would have ended it where he wakes up in the water, I think it would have been a better ending. Yeah, it's cliche as fuck, but it's better than ending like it did. Or when it all started over again. That would have been a neat ending. The room would be like a neverending hell.
I can't decide if I liked it or not. Lots of things I hated about it (like the televisual ghosts... totally not scary), but there were almost as many things I enjoyed. The Carpenters song was a bad choice.

I think the Carpenter's song was supposed to be a joke; it's Stephen King's idea of what Hell would be like.
I thought the movie was watchable, but nothing special. I wouldn't watch it again.

yeah I know... I was like "oh for fuck's sake, the carpenters? REALLY?"
I was really hoping he was hallucinating the whole time from that bottle of whiskey.
the whole black light thing was kinda dumb too... well, especially on the bed. no way they would have just washed a comforter someone died on and threw it back on the bed...
I watched it a friend's house. the spoiled one with the millionaire mom... she's a 5th grade teacher and told her mom she needed a projector for teaching lessons... but oddly enough it ended up in their upstairs entertainment room connected to a home theater system. So it was cool to watch a movie on a "big screen" like that, it took up the whole wall... but it still kinda irks me how she lied to her mom about why she wanted a projector. I mean she could have told her mom the truth and she still would have bought it. People who lie when the truth is better really bother me.

That movie has to be the worst piece of shit I have watched in a very long time and I watch assloads of movies; At least 1 a day. I hated every single thing about that movie. It came off as a shitty excuse for the CGI guys to show-off. I am actually surprised I didn't get up and walk out of the theatre (geezus, i actually paid to see that shite).

CGI?! wtf are you going on about. if you were talking about Spiderman or Cloverfield, i could tend to agree a little more. but you are making no sense.

I thought the movie was awesome and "We've only just begun..." was a nice touch. It fit the story. Plus, John Cusack did a good job playing the part.
Opinions and assholes I guess.

Are we not talking about the movie with John Cusack shot entirely in a hotel room? The one where water turns to blood (CGI) and the room becomes icy and his face is covered in ice crystals (CGI)? That movie was chock full of CGI. Has the mainstream american eye become so accustomed to CGI that no one notices that claptrap anymore?

I thought they did a great job depicting how certain hotel rooms can really give you the creeps. I've been spooked many times in a hotel room for no other reason than just getting this feeling of horror/doom. I like that movie. I thouhgt John Cusak did a great job.

I enjoyed the movie but I liked the story better.
I'd say it was a fresh take on the cliche haunted hotel room.

Checkout "Chelsea Walls" for a movie about "haunted" hotel rooms that isn't completely braindead. Granted, it isn't really "haunted" or super natural per se but it is a rather realistic look at what might have generated the vibe that you feel when sitting in a hotel room and it is based on a real life location with real life events.

watching movies while tripping is a waste if you ask me.
I don't think I could sit through one though. I'd get sidetracked.
