If anyone needs Calcium Carbonate just grind up tums or the chulky antacids cause they are mostly 100% calcium carbonate, it works for me.

calcium carbonate does not continue increasing ph past 8.5 no matter how much you add and theres no risk of overdoing it. that is why i prefer it over lime.(dont bash me :crazy2:)
we just measure out the minimum so that we can have more room for other ingredients.

calcium carbonate is a very safe product. and better for noobs to use than lime.

can you get the PH too high with calcium carbonate?
it wont rise above 8.5?

Im gonna use a 1 cup calci-sand and 1/2 cup gypsum
to every 10 cups of peat in my mix this time.

Hopefully it'll help prevent trich from getting my damn peat!

go ahead and add 1 cup gypsum and 1 cup calcium carbonate to 10cups peat moss, mix and bring to field capacity. then mix with 10 cups of verm at field capacity. pasteurize and youll be good.
