lack of flow in the psychedelic state

when im tripping i feel like i should be able to do creative things, like paint or sing or dance or make mathematical theorems
increasingly i feel like i see creativity and intracacy around me but that it bounces off of me - i don't flow with it or have the ability to do anything with it
i always have the urge to create something or "do" something that matters...trying to relax just makes me feel vegetable-like
i'd say this happens most on salvia and then mushrooms; its like the substances are screaming at me: "the time to act is now; do something spectacular!" Especially on a high dose of salvia...I just see myself as a vegetable
anyone have any experiences like this? i'm trying my best to be intelligent and creative - i just don't know what to do with these experiences

I always tell myself I'm gonna do all this cool shit when I trip...write a story, draw a picture, make music, etc....
here's something I actually did write during one of my most powerful shroom trips:
Well I didn’t like it at first but I must say once I turned the lights off I liked it quite abit more but I don’t think I’m gonna type any more. Who the fuck will read this anyways.
I had planned on drawing stuff but I realize now that I can’t really doooo anything.
To me this encapsulates my attempts at creativity while tripping.

i think the best i have done is pick a random mushroom and marvel at my ingenuity in becoming a modern day hunter-gatherer...then get scolded in the Mushroom Hunting forum for the stupid ID request

Are you a creative person, consistently, in your everyday life?
Do you do the things you want to do tripping, in your normal waking life?
Are you "in the flow" when you're NOT tripping?
Because LOOKING for that, looking to discover it while tripping...that can be a very dangerous trap m'friend. You might end up thinking you can ONLY find that place, that flow, while tripping. And it's just not true.
Find the flow in your life, and it will flow even deeper when you trip.

People should learn to get past the initial apathetic state.
Some very influential work has been done while under the influence of LSD, perhaps not so much with mushrooms. Nobel prizes, countless musical superstars, artists, ect.
Just get out there and GO for it!
If nothing else, you'll think up some very original ideas which you can work on when you're in a more sound state of mind.

Also, I'd like to say...the work you are doing inside the contours of your mind while tripping - that's important work, not to be undervalued.

fuck...i'm not creative at all . but, i definitely haven't been looking for the flow through chemicals. i guess i don't know how to approach it in everyday life...i read and meditate and do different types of exercise sometimes, but thats pretty much the extent of my mental stimulation. i've been thinking about learning an auxillary language but always get frustrated when trying to decide which one; it is a big decision. i try to have fun too

All humans are creative, in some way...don't let your personal definition or idea of what "creativity" is scare you off or make you feel disappointed in yourself...we are all creative in our own ways. Believe it or not, even initiating corporate mega-mergers and mega-deals...that's creativity in its own right. I guess my only advice to you, as empty as it may sound...is to go with what feels right. if you get an urge to express yourself in any way during your trips, and then you second-guess it - follow your gut, not the second-guessing. Do what feels right at the moment to express yourself.
I find it's a lot of fun, even if you dont' consider yourself visually artistically oriented (which I don't at all, I can't draw for SHIT! but I still do this) - buy some acrylic paints, like 3 tubes, 3 different colors is all you need. Buy a small canvas. Trip, and just paint on your canvas. Paint and then paint over what you've painted and just create, play with the colors. You'll find that your mind is hard-wired for creativity. You ARE creative. Don't sell yourself short. We all are.
