REQUEST FOR POSSIBLE CONTAMINATION ASSESSMENT
    #7921496 - 01/23/08 08:00 PM (16 years, 9 days ago)

Hey everyone!!

I'm concerned about this tray... I was humidifying the fruiting chambitron with perlite trays, since I didn't have a humidifier. I just bought a humidifier, so problem solved, but I'm concerned about this crop.

There's a strange white fuzz growing on the caps, and the stems are a little strange. The fuzz might be mycelium growing on the caps, but does that happen?

There was a strong fish-tank kind of smell coming from the fruiting chamber before I cleaned it out and re-sterilized the perlite for storage, but what do you think of these guys?

PEACE!!!

What's a chambitron? You talking about a Martha or a Rubbermaid-type tub?

its not a contamination the white fuzz on top of the caps is due to high humidity. you will be fine just give it a lot of FAE

This thread was moved from Mushroom Cultivation.

Reason:
It can be several things, none of which is related to humidity. Cubes thrive in 100%. If it smelled bad, it could easily be cobweb mold, which makes a fuzzy mycelium on the caps if it's allowed to spread that far. If it's just a few spots of very white mycelium, it's probably from the species you're growing, since mushrooms are mycelium.

I'll move this to contamination forum. You need to post pictures to get an accurate diagnosis.
