For the past few years I had jumped around between real estate offices answering phones.
I got let go just before the new year because I guess I had gotten rude on the phones and it couldn't really be tolerated. I think I had realized I am tired of simply answering phones and filing faxes. It gets monotonous really.
I liked how I was 5-8 minutes from work. I got that job through craig's list after a couple of people told me to use it. I wasn't getting anywhere anymore with just answering newspaper ads, and they didnt come out as often. So within a week or so of going on craig's list the job was scored. I did that job for a year and a month.
Then when I got fired I simply said "well now I have this resource to apply to assloads of jobs."
I figured it would take around a month to find a job. I had money and weed and not worried about it. I was able to get one job working in a rather dirty conditions (a shop that builds really cool motorcycle trailers) but I was actually taking a step down as far as compensation and going really far (45 minute drive). Then the same day I got that job I got a call for an interview for a job 10 miles away.
So i do that the day before starting the other job. I am told they will have an answer by the end of next week, but immediately he wants me to set up a second interview (a damn good sign) for the following monday. I ask the other job if I can come in later.
I go for interview and it goes really well again and I get told I will have an answer in 24 hours. I proceed up the way to the other job. I am not there more than 15 minutes (45 minutes after interview) and I get the offer.
It was great knowing so quickly. I had stressed about it over the weekend and was expecting to stress until at least the next day.
Job pays well and has benefits and everything. It is also more responsibility and will actually be more than just answering phones. My prior experience in the real estate field and my knowledge of computers is what I had.
No long commute either.
Anyone else love that feeling of landing a good job after becoming unemployed?
I highly recommend craig's list. the best part is they have room to describe the job and compensation and location so you know what to apply for.
I seem to be really good in interviews for some reason.
I guess I have had some practice is what it really comes down to. I also feel confident when I have experience to bring to the table.
being good at interviews is key.
