real interested in those ready-prepared spawn bags...

I'm pretty much gonna have to compromise and go with these things given my situation. i still plan to make the liquid cultures when my syringes get here, so the things should colonize quicker than injecting spores, but i don't want to do cakes or any of that afterward from there.

I know they are a ripoff to buy like that instead of preparing them yourself. All I care about for now is: how much dried mushroom material could i expect to get out of each of these?

the following are some options i've looked at just now

here's his actual ebay store

one from a different vendor

and another from a different vendor

do the ones that say they need to be transferred to bulk substrate really need to be, or can you get a pretty good yield without?

i've been wringing my neck the last few days tryin to decide how i'm going to do this mushroom thing. i was mislead by a book about harvesting liquid cultures that made me think I could do it all in way less space and gear. now i know that won't work so i'm trying to make off the best i can. I'm a collge kid w/basically a non-walk in closet to work with, and on occasion i'll probably need to be able to conceal the whole operation for 2 days ish at a time. I don't have a clean kitchen to work with, i don't have my tools here to build a setup, i don't have the time to be monitoring terrarium stuff, making sure things are sterile and hogging the stovetop with an autoclaver (roomates and myself need to be able to use it for actual food). I don't like things being this way... i fuckin hate not being able to do projects how they should be done, but it's my situation right now.

bottom line: unless there's some like 666 reason why I shouldn't use these things, which of the above (or another similar if you know of one of course) would I get the most mushroom material from for the cost of the things, without the hassle of transferring to bulk substrate and making ideal conditions and all that bullshit?

and if anyone was going to bring it up, I looked through the past posts with the search function and really didn't feel anything was pertaining to my questions. it's almost all about preparing the bags yourself.

thanks very much and have a lovely day (-;

-Jon

Why wouldnt they work? They should work fine, they just cost more than making the yourself. And probably id be a little more worried about how they where sterilized compared to if i had made them myself. And how much you yeild will matter on growing conditions and what method you use

growing conditions will be 75 ish degrees, 80 if that'd be better. method will be letting em colonise and then following w/e directions ppl say to so they fruit in the bags and i don't have to handle them anymore beyond opening the bags and picking the mushrooms to risk fucking it up. i'm looking to have as many as 10 of these going in my closet at once if they produce decently.
