In a text based format of communication, good spelling is important. If you can't spell, the rest of us who passed high school literacy exams get distracted from the meat of your message.
I like Alex Grey, particularly some of his earlier work and community art projects. I think there's a lot of conceptual and particularly sculptural artists around these days who make much better stuff.

Basically, you attacked me personally when I posted an opinion. But if my opinion doesn't matter then why am I "not very smart" for not agreeing with your point of view?
My point initially was that while his work may be good, people hype it up to be deeper than it is.
Yes, it's a decent depiction of the psychedelic experience. Yes it's very detailed and is a unique style. He's good. But like I said, he's not God and he does not deserve to be treated like one. I've seen videos of people literally swarming around him at the CoSM. He's been deified.
And you're absolutely right, he has done well with his life and I am not nearly to the level of fame or financial comfortability that he has attained. I am however relatively young and have a good deal of my life ahead of me. Plenty of time for that later, right now I am not ready to settle down.
You have your opinion and I have mine, neither of us is going to change the position of the other, it seems. However I will continue to defend myself if you continue to make unpleasant, unflattering and especially untrue comments about me.
Oh and:

I enjoy looking at his paintings/drawings. They spark a little something in my imagination..
Its not like he did his first painting yesterday and now today he is filthy rich. It took him time to get his work and name out there. Now, he is making some money. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that, and I'm glad to have supported him in the past by buying a thing or two.
I don't know, nor do I even remotely care how he thinks of himself in regards to the psychedelic culture. Sure, its possible he may have some sort of godlike complex going on but what does it matter to me..

There is a "Check Spelling" button integrated into the posting system on this site. Not being the best seller is, firstly, an understatement, and secondly no excuse.
He speaks opinion and calls it fact.

i think (think = my opinion) alex grey is just a bit pretentious and vastly overrated. there are many people out there doing more intelligent, articulate, and advanced work than he is. i mean, his style is very defined, but he doesn't push that style at all, he seems to lack creativity nowadays.
again, that's what I THINK, hence my opinion. i feel the need to say that because it seems many here are slobbering all over alex grey's weiner.

i clearly told you to disregard all of my opinions, they dont matter
the fact of the matter is you ARE missing THE point of IT ART is not about money. by even brining up that subject in the topic of creative history you display a rudimentry knolage of the subject, again...just my opinion. the money was always there yes, and it always willbe untill eventualy art can be used to disolve those bounderys we put between us. he is a good artist, and hes trying to spread love, and creative energy. hes incoraging people to say whay ever they want about him, and his works. im not a member of his fanclub nor have i ever purchased anything from him or seen him. but i am a great admirer of his works.

Being a frequent visitor of Alex's gallery I've got to say that I'm not under the impression at all that he is being "deified," at least not in the presence of the man himself. People swarm around him during his live paintings because it takes place in the main room which is also a lounge and a dance floor. It is only natural for groups to gather in this way. People are curious. People also feel inspired by his work. Wonder and worship are two things far apart. = my opinion.

Thank you for presenting a intelligent and informed opposing opinion.
I believe you're partially right, however there are a lot of people who do worship him and treat him as a sort of god, like people do with any celebrity. It comes with the territory I guess.
To me, however, that sort of placing someone on a pedestal sort of cheapens their work and even their persona. I am immediately put off by Alex Grey because of fans like notapillow.

how? pillow stated his opinion, you stated yours. They obviously dont match up, but to say that you get putt off from Alex Grey's work because, "people like pillow worship him as a god or some shit" you come off as arrogant and like you wernt even reading pillows posts.
He was not putting alex on a pedestal merely saying he admires his art, Which is the entire reason alex does his art in the first place.
