He's going to go down in Joker infamy now.

Sucks. 28 is too young to die, however it happened. They're saying pills were found near his body. If I remember correctly, him and his wife just separated or something, and they have a really young kid - maybe he was depressed? Who knows. I liked him in The Patriot.

seems like a poor reason to lift weights. if the only reason anyone works out is to gain veins that bulge out of your arms only to shoot smack in them, id say they're in it for the wrong reasons. fact of the matter is i never really watched any of his movies. never saw brokeback mountain. but i will watch the next batman. will anyone else take anything else out of his performance as joker besides me?

that is SO WEIRD.

I just watched a movie a few nights ago with him in it where he played a heroine junky... in fact i think it was a week ago today. it was the night before I had to give blood and I couldn't watch the movie b/c it showed them shooting up.

This thing is really weird cuz the past two Saturdays during the afternoons, they've been playing his movie The Order. From the short time I watched it (in between playoff games) it seemed like an okay movie and I remember saying to myself, this guy's an alright actor. Now he's dead. And I only saw him in the Patriot before.

Weird.

I like you Randal, but your level of vanity and need for others to validate your life never ceases too amaze me!

Fame is the last thing I ever want. When I die, hopefully at a ripe old age, I will be happy if no one remembers me as soon as my corpse is cold. Just let me enjoy my time up until then...what happens after that I could give a fuck about. But at 40 I still have a lot of living to do. I would hate to throw it all away on something like an overdose!

I'll take old, feeble, and forgotten FTW!

I wonder if this was his plan all along. I just heard that he finished the movie. Your comment really got me to thinking about it and he may very well have wanted to go out with a bang.. So if going out on top was his intention this should be one hell of a performance.

"NEW YORK - Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday in a Manhattan apartment, naked in bed with prescription sleeping pills nearby, police said. The Australian-born actor was 28.

There was no obvious indication of suicide, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said.

Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the SoHo apartment that is believed to be the home of the "Brokeback Mountain" actor, Browne said. The massage therapist and a housekeeper found his naked body in the bed at about 3:30 p.m. They tried to revive him, but he was already dead.

Paparazzi and gawkers gathered outside, and several police officers put up barricades to control the crowd of about 300. Onlookers craned their necks as officers brought out a black body bag on a gurney, took it across the sidewalk and put it into a white medical examiner's office van.

As the door opened, bystanders snapped pictures with camera phones, rolled video, and said, "He's coming out!"

I had such great hope for him," said Mel Gibson, who played Ledger's vengeful father in "The Patriot," in a statement. "He was just taking off and to lose his life at such a young age is a tragic loss."

This is going to make the new batman movie so fucking legendary. It's going to be his eulogy.

I'm really sad for him, it's terrible to see somebody so young die pointlessly, but from a detached perspective, it fits the movie so well...he was playing the fucking JOKER.

I wonder about the whole Mary-Kate Olsen thing. It says here that NYPD first stated his body was found in her apartment, and later they retracted the statement.
Interesting.

I honestly don't think he was trying to promote a movie with a death. It's sort of lame to think of it that way.  From various sources, it appears he had sleeping problems during shooting, and at the time of death, he (might have) had pneumonia.  It is also reported he was taking ambien for his sleeping problems.
That combo can be deadly.

RIP Heath, you had an awesome career. :undecided:

Ha, I remember when Batman Begins was released that stupid Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes romance was starting and everyone said it was for publicity for that movie and the stupid movie Tom Cruise was promoting at the time, War of the Worlds. Sorry "Tomcat" but ya can't beat that. Or maybe...I think "Mad Money" could use some good PR

This is just like When Brandon Lee died while shooting The Crow. Again, I suspect that someone killed him to sell more tickets.

i thought he was a pretty good actor.. although I never watched brokeback or want to for that matter. I don't understand why some people would disrespect him after his death.. he seemed like a pretty cool guy to me, and I can't think of anything he did that would really piss someone off. maybe they think they're funny or something. o well :bongload:

heath was a great actor imo, every film was solid its just people are snobs. look at the imdb ratings, most people enjoyed almost all of his major flicks
and honestly i doubt it was a fucking suicide. his family denies the shit out of that possibility every time. i mean people can hide things but if you're suicidal you usually exhibit so many damn symptoms. nobody has confirmed anything yet, people just love rumors.

yeah but you really think his parents would want anyone to think he commited suicide? that he would be remembered as a suicide victim? or that they failed as parents?

You know i have seen on TV allot of people talking about how he might have done this due to the fact of him being tormented over his new role as the joker... I don't believe this... I really believe he started slipping after Broke-back mountain, and people labeling him as a gay cowboy.. I do believe this messed with his head, and i think he chose the Joker as a way to escape that label forever..

Then again maybe the stress of losing his wife and kid added to it, but i think his torment began with Broke back, and the type casting it brought.... But i think maybe there are some other missing pieces of this story not yet told, and when they come out, we will full understand..

I doubt that because as far as the industry is concerned he got hella praise for taking on that role. Apparently he was more afraid of being typecast as a 'teeny booper' after he did '10 Things I Hate About You' than anything else. I'm sure Brokeback was the last thing on his mind recently.

Thats why at the end i said i believe there is more to this story then we know already, and i think it will come to light soon.. I was also just stating my thoughts on it.. I feel sort of bad because i really did enjoy him, and thought he had some very good roles.. I rather like A Knights tale.
