Aquarium bubbler's producing large pins? (w/ pics)

I bought an aquarium bubbler, $13 with tubing and check valve. It's only 35dB so it's very quite. Anyway I dunked a cake, and added a new cake to the FC. The dunked cake is pinning like it did before, but the new cake has one HUGE pin. This is 48 hours after pin appeared (yes, sorry, poor pictures, I'm sorry.)

And here is a picture last from last night, much bigger this morning but no time to snap a picture...

The FC gets FAE around 4 - 8 times a day. Indirect light from sun peaking through window with blinds. I mist every time I FAE, but I'm just not getting the pins I want. This monster is cool with me, but not good enough. The FC already has three holes under the handles on two sides, should I add more? Dunk longer than 12 hours I assume.
Any other insight would be appreciated! Thank you.

Oppps, forgot to specify my main question.
Since the FC has 6 holes already, adding the aquarium bubbler would be a good replacement for extra holes, yes?

To answer your question yes and no. No one knows for sure if your bubbler will work as good as holes, but i dont see why it shouldn't. That layer of perlite looks like a skimpy nickel bag man, 5 inches is preferred. Shotgun terrariums are the best and most tested and proven for cakes, maybe you should try one. If you dont know what a shotgun terrarium is, look it up (search engine). Check out my pins with a shotgun, after a 24 hour dunk and roll.

All you need to upgrade is a drill man. Just use the one you have and put some more holes in that sucker.

well your cake has 1 huge pin (probably a few more to come) instead of 20-30 smaller pins
I had results like that on my first grow..it's just that the myc just decided to fruit one mother instead of more smaller ones

I stopped by my place for lunch, this thing is a monster, I will post a picture tomorrow. It's bigger than the cake. A few other pins but they already appear to be aborts...
Anyway, thanks for the reply. That's what I was looking for, someone with simular results...

I put the monster on a deftones CD, it was larger than CD case, but the picture isn't loading... The cake went back into a dunk.

I would think and aquarium bubbler and 1 hole down low would be enough

I live in Seattle, it's actually sunny out this week, still cold, but I was scared too much light would get in... How about white t-shirt over the FC with blinds open?

One hole won't provide FAE in a FC of any size larger than a cigarette pack.
You need many holes for FAE, one hole will provide gas exchange at best.

The filtered oxygen from the aquarium pump is providing the air exchange - that's what he was referring to.
God damnit, my verizon account is still down, I can't upload this picture.

With all due respect, pumping air into an FC without exhaust holes will not provide FAE, and may even build positive pressure.
Why not toss the PMP and drill some 1/4 inch holes around all six sides, ala a Shotgun FC, works great without the electricity and timers.

Correct, give them 12 hours of 6500 Kelvin color temp light.
Nothing beats 5 inches of damp, well drained perlite, and plenty of 1/4 inch holes for low maintenance FCs.
Try an ultra sonic on a repeat cycle timer tubed in for misting, so you only have to open the lid for harvesting.

20-30$ for small table top models.
On a repeat cycle timer you can run the ultra for 30 seconds every 5 minutes.

Because an aquarium pump eliminates the need to fan your fc. It's still not a bad idea to fan from time to time though. Also, you won't build positive pressure in your fc provided there is at least one small hole allowing the air to escape.

you do not need an ultrasonic for your tubs... the perlite will be enough RH, but no FAE... the bubbler will get you the fae... for a long time, I used 2 tubs like yours with a cool mist and pumice, and I never even touched it... pretty much set it and forget it.. Thanks, RonCo.. haha.. no timers, just lots of holes and the cool mist running day and night...
o yeeeaaaahhhh... mushies LOVE light... think about the sun.. they get natural light from that, and that shit is brighter than shit..I mean.. Shit... haha.. I use a couple of compact fluorescents, and they work kosher.. cheap, low heat, last a long time... just use any kind of fluorescent light and keep it close to them.. especially with casings.. you want strong light to be able to penetrate the casing layer to end up with a savage pin set..

I doubt his FC is air tight to build pressure. It will result in the excess being pushed out the lid though I would question if it is enough for some species. I just did pans leaving the lid open an 1/8 in and fanning when I could and it was sufficient...ya never know.
