The Virus That Is Christianity

I just read this line Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil, and it brought to mind the fact that, according to Nietzche's interpretation (which I agree with), Christianity acts as a retro virus of sorts, infiltrating the minds of society and then reversing the progress of those minds. Quote:
To reverse all estimates of value--that is what they had to do! And to shatter the strong, to spoil great hopes, to cast suspicion on the delight in beauty, to break down everything autonomous, manly, conquering, and imperious--all instincts which are natural to the highest and most succesful type of "man"--into uncertainty, distress of conscience, and self-destruction; forsooth, to invert all love of the earthly and of supremacy over the earth, into hatred of the earth and earthly things--that is the task the Church imposed on itself
Thoughts?

At least he spoke from the church and not christianity itself, in this paragraph.

Yeah, he goes on to specifically call out Christianity in the next two sentences I believe.

Nietzsche's statements in that quote rest on a lot of blind assumptions that I don't necessarily agree with, which means they are not allowed on this forum (at least not without several pages of second-guessing).
However, he was certainly ahead of his time in putting forth the idea that a set of beliefs and ideas can be considered a "virus," and I will not argue with his observation of Christianity as such.

On the other hand truth is viral, it will always make its way around. So if it is the truth then what can you do? I gotta laugh at you all, it's really not funny but some of the crap people say about Christians is way off. I would hate to see the churches you guys went to...Catholic maybe, but wtf? Last i time I checked Christianity is the belief that anyone who accepts Christ's Sacrifice will not go to hell. There are no rules or consequences eternally speaking. Sounds pretty free to me. I know that God loves me no matter what I do and that my ticket wasn't earned by me in the least. I do try to do nice things and be a good person and make the world a better place. But no one is perfect and God doesn't expect you to be. So people in these forums don't even know what it is they are mocking. There are groups that are out of control, like with any organization of people, even the VFW...hehe PTSD+Alcohol n painkillers, = Good night & lost dentures...jk Every group is just as bad. The liberals take the constitutional rights from Christians to protect another, it's BS. Same thing, different form. You hate legalistic Christians who are hypocritical lying assholes, I do too. They have a list of rules I don't even care to hear. They create people like you who spread misinformation about Christianity with the same viral existence as ??

Indeed. Nietzsche did never overcome his trauma, as his father, a christian priest, died long and suffering as N. was a small boy. This blinded him and kept his focus on christianity instead regarding more religions and churches. Some short-circuit in his brain, poor guy. (See:) All too human...
