Dual Displays
    #7911824 - 01/21/08 08:16 PM (16 years, 11 days ago)

Who here runs dual displays? I just got a second monitor, and just finished setting it up. I like it because I can type here, look over to the other monitor, and I can still see the beach!

I have them set up as Dual View (so they are independent of one another). It seems OK atm, but I can't figure out how to have 2 different backgrounds on 2 different monitors. Currently, I just choose one, and it puts it on the other one too. I'll play around with it.

What settings do yall use?

I have two 17' LCDs in Dualview. There is more than one piece of software that will let you use two different desktop images. Just search Google.

Did you load the latest drivers for your video card?
nVidia gives you many options for setting up dual displays.

The drivers I have have settings for Duals that I was playin' around with.

I've found a free program called MultiMon that is exactly what I was looking for. Now I can have to task bars, move windows instantly to the other display, have things automatically start on the 2nd monitor, etc.

Now I'm very excited about my new dual setup!

Eventually you're gonna go bonkers trying to keep up with both of them at the same time, assuming you have really interactive stuff running on each.

i used to have my tv hooked up to my computer,
and i could drag windows media player or whatever
over to the t.v. to watch videos.
also it is helpful for me when doing 3d modeling
and photoshop work.

I would do that as well, but I really need the TV to watch my favorite TV shows, so I'm still stuck using monitors for the computer.

you could easily switch between cable and auxiliary inputs,
thats what i did. or alt east my t.v. had that option.

Now that you mention it, I do have that option!
That's a great suggestion.

Once you get a dual setup, using single-monitor computers doesn't feel right. For me, the most practical setting is a single extended desktop. Unfortunately i only have one lcd so far.

Dual screen here.  I use UltraMon.

I'm a multi-media producer so I work with Photoshop and After Effects all day.  I NEED two monitors.  I'll never go back to a single screen.

At work, I work on two 32in Apple HD monitors.  Now THAT shit is fucking awesome.  Coming home to 19in kinda sucks.
