composted Hpoo for casing

I know it sounds strange Hpoo is a substrate, right? A many posts ago, the discussion was over what a casing layer actually is- non-nutritive layer -vs- moisture containing layer. The debate seemed to settle on moisture container layer. The composted Hpoo I use is so fibrous it holds one hell of alot of water, so I decided to use it in a casing manner. Pan was 9x9 3in deep, I used approx. 2 pints of colonized grain and layered 1inch of Hpoo over top. I've been experimenting with all kinds of teks and have not had the quantity pinset and quality fruits of this method. The two pans I followed up with in this same manner look as promising as the first. Whatever--try it and see what you think for yourself. I'm sure alot of people are going to give opinions on what actually is occurring, but I like the results, and I may stick to it as my preferred tek, until I find a better one, because I'll admit, I love to experiment.

are you spawning the grain above a layer of hpoo and then putting more hpoo on top? effectively layering your substrate? it would be interesting to test that tek against simply using the same amount of hpoo but only on the bottom and putting the spawn on top, it would be interesting to see if they had different results based on layering
