Casing Rye Grain
    #7911440 - 01/21/08 07:17 PM (16 years, 11 days ago)

I'm gonna case my rye jars pretty soon. I was wondering, i've read mixed posts, if I should incubate after I add the mycelium to the tray or if I should immediately case and place in my fruiting chamber?

I just posted on this sub. what I did. Look at the post "composted Hpoo for casing" I don't know if it will help ya'. But to answer your question I believe the census is--case then back to IC, when myc starts poking through the casing layer, lightly patch those areas with your casing mix, then to FC. I may be off but if you want to do it perfectly right search for "hyphae's pinning strategy"

once your done making your casings... take some aluminum foil and cover each casing tray you make and incubate it and check it every couple days or day and wait till you see mycelium pop through the casing layer top then you take the foil off and then into the fuiting chamber ... incubation will take a few days or to a week i think also, once you see the mycelium pop through you may wanna patch that with some casing material not deep but enough to cover it

Fair enough. That sounds pretty logical. Thanks.
