what are the differences between the types of psychedelics that you've tried?
how would you describe their differences to somebody who's never tried any of em before?

i tell them its really hard to describe into words what you feel.
and its best to experience them for youself. The similarities lie in the charecter of the trip rather than the specific effects. LSD, psilocin, mescalin, all have similar effects(oevs, cevs, ausitory halicinations, change in thought patterns, etc.) bu the charecter of the effects changes with the different chemical. To know the differences its best to experience them cause its never going to be exactly what is described to you.

Trying to describe the psychedelic experience to someone who hasn't yet tried them is like trying to describe colors to people who were born blind. Only thing you can do is offer it to them so they can find out for themselves.
Or show them videos like these and hope they don't take you seriously:

shrooms ground me to mother earth. i feel very connected with nature, walking around is a very floaty experience. much more of the so-called head trip. All objects crawl with multicolored layers, CEV's are very rapid and multi-dimensional. much more of a "breathing walls" effect
lsd feels more chemical to me, and is a lot more of a "fun" experience. whereas with psilocybin i seem to learn a lot more about myself, acid makes me wanna go out and do crazy stuff! fractals are intense and very deep. i was watching Persian cities rise and crumble off the pool table at billiards (u can guess it wasn't my best game of pool ever ha..)
lsa is very limited visually, but reallyyy intense in the head trip for me. extremely rapid-fire thought progressions, i would start to come up with a question in my head and before finishing it i'd have the answer and move on to the next revelation. awesome chemical to draw and write to.
dmt is beyond explanation. best explanation i've found is on this site: http://www.miqel.com/entheogens/dmt_first_time_report.html besides that, i am permanently changed from this one like no other experience. highly recommended for the ones still looking for an "answer"...

alright...so how about this one:
they tried mushrooms, but weren't too pleased with em (not because they didn't like the effect, but rather - they were hoping for more)
and now they're curious about how other psychedelics compare to it

Then you can tell them that acid is very similar, but lasts twice as long, or tell them next time to take double the amount.

i.e. they understand the basics behind what to expect out of a psychedelic experience...and now they're just wondering how one particular compound varies from another, and how exactly they effect you in comparison with one another

*devil's advocate*
so then, how would peyote fit in with these? or salvia divinorum perhaps? aminita?
what's the difference in effect between different types of psychedelics???

That's very difficult to answer, because even for the same person using those over and over, they still have different experiences with each. The only significant differences would be the length of the trip as well as different ratios of visuals/sounds versus body sensations.

exactly. the charecter of the effects changes but they are similar.

well...isn't that at least *something*
I know for me:
- LSD lasts the longest / has a great deal of 'mind fuck' / and is minimal on visuals
- shrooms are a little less intense / a little shorter lasting / and a lot more visual
- salvia last only a moment, but transforms your entire world on you
(sensory fucken overload if you take a strong enough dose in a short enough time span)
I'm just trying to get a general consensus from an average group of people so that I can give someone a real basic overview of what to expect in any given one of these circumstance

This whole thing is far more subjective than you make it out to be. Face it, if he doesn't try them out for himself, he will be missing out big time.
