Scientists have discovered a way of speeding up the production of hollow-core optical fibres - a new generation of optical fibres that could lead to faster and more powerful computing and telecommunications technologies.
The procedure cuts the production time of hollow-core optical fibres from around a week to a single day, reducing the overall cost of fabrication.
Initial tests show that the fibre is also superior in virtually every respect to previous versions of the technology, making it an important step in the development of new technologies that use light instead of electrical circuits to carry information.

Good news.
-------------------- "To do right is to know what you want. Now when you are dissatisfied with yourself it's because you are after something you don't really want. What objects are you proposing to yourself? Are they the objects you really value? If they are not, you are cheating yourself. I don't meant that if you chose to pursue the objects you most value, you will attain them; of course not. Your experience will tell you that. But success in getting after much labor what you really don't care for is the bitterest and most ridiculous failure." -George Santayana

thats really, cool we really need to do away with electrical circuits and focus on a fast form of information delivery.

Well, if you can make an optical version of an amplifier and transistor, and an optical capacitor, then yes, you can do away with electronics.
Until then, it's foolish to say we'll be doing away with electronics anytime soon.

Yah i understand this...but wouldn't it be nice...Oh shit whats the super cool thing they use for quantum computers, a condensate???

A Bose–Einstein condensate, they have passed light thru it, and light's speed was slowed down to that of a bicycle, (as perceived by an observer) but I don't think that they have applied it to computers practically, yet.... The temps needed are damn near zero kelvin....
You may be talking about super conductors....? Not quite as cold, but still cold....

Yah of course its not practical...thats beyond cold. If they could make it colder mabey it could hold light,,,like a capacitor?
