Straw pasteurization question

Watching your "Lets Do Straw" Technique. I see to use dish soap and get it all sudsy. Do I rinse this straw off before pasteurization? Will the soap hurt my grain culture? I have many questions for you sir. I have no access to rye berries except for the local health food co-op, but it smells like hippies in there and I can't stand the smell. I plan to Innoc with my LC to WBS. I don't have a PC, will steaming like I did the PF cakes work?

i cant answer the first one since that question is directed at me.. but as far as steaming wbs.. it's not going to be as effective as pressure cooking it..
i've heard that it can be done through fractional sterilization and methods such as that.. but i can only recommend a pc to ensure a good sterilization.
i'm not RR though.. he might have a different answer for you
rye is badass.. and pretty cheap.. at least try it.
pick up a pc while you're at it if you can afford it.. until then, stick to pf cakes pc is even awesome for pf cakes because you can do so many cakes at one time..

I posted a link to FungusMan's tek on doing WBS without a PC a couple of days ago. Do a search for it using the search function.

You don't need to rinse the soap out of the straw. Lift the straw out of the soapy water, allow to drain for a few seconds, and then place directly into the hot water/lime bath as shown.
I recommend a PC for grains. One or two failed batches doing it without one, will pay for the PC.
I edited your thread title to remove my name from the subject line. RR
