Need some advice on getting rid of pimples here.
I got tired of having pimples 1.5 years ago and subsequently changed my diet appropriately and began exercising regularly. It only made a minor difference for a year.
I was living in a city, washing with and drinking chlorinated water sludged up from the nearby river, and just generally existing in a filthy air environment. I left the city and moved back with my parents, where our water was drawn from a well and trees radiate in all directions for dozens of miles. Within 2 weeks my skin was great, and after 3 months of being there I couldn't have been happier with it.
But now I moved to the suburbs outside another city and am bathing in and drinking more processed water and spending more time in the city fumes. The pimples are coming back.
What could I do? I'm quite certain after this track record that it is a result of the water/air. There was also more home-cooked fresh food while I was living with my parents, but I'm still getting plenty of that. I got off my flax seed oil supplement regiment for a while and that might not have helped.
I'm using the same soap and moisturizer that I was while at my parents home when it all cleared up. I'm thinking of trying Proactive, does anyone use that and does it work?
I was also told that a part of it may be psychological. I tried telling my subconscious to stop sending oil to my face but it hasn't seemed to help yet and I do have a somewhat closer than normal relationship with my subconscious.
I did just move to a new place and there's a lot going on, maybe I'm stressed a bit. Any and all advice appreciated, I don't want to look like this.

You might need zineryt. It's a local antibiotic and it seems to work for everybody including me.

My face used to be pretty bad. Here's what I do now, it works for me fine. Wash my face with Cetaphil in the shower in the morning, same mid-day, and then again at night with an application of benzoyl peroxide (prescription) once in a while. There are probably a lot of other solutions, but that's worked for me.
Oh, and benzoyl peroxide is a bleach, so if you use it at night you better have white pillowcases. The doctor said to use it during the day but it feels kind of gross so I just use it at night.

The most common conventional skin care recommendation, is cleaning the skin regularly with soap and water as well as with the special acne formulas containing benzoyl peroxide. This is an excellent cleansing agent and the active ingredient of many lotions and creams, both over-the-counter and prescription varieties.
If the case is particularly severe, highly effective drugs, derivatives of vitamin A, are available for acne treatments, and in my view their use is sometimes warranted. Tretinoin (Retin-A) is a topical preparation, while isoretinoin (Accutane) is for internal use. These drugs are safe when used under the supervision of a dermatologist but should not be used casually because they can be irritating and toxic. Women taking Accutane must be careful not to become pregnant, since the drug can cause severe birth defects if taken during pregnancy.
What therapies does bodynotdead recommend for acne and skin care? * Don't squeeze pimples - it can lead to scarring. * Wash regularly with a mild glycerin soap. Don't scrub your face, just wash gently and pat dry; scrubbing will only make matters worse. * As a natural alternative to topical application of benzoyl peroxide, use calendula, commonly known as pot marigold. (It is not a true marigold.) Calendula is a popular ornamental plant that you can buy for your garden at most nurseries in the spring. Its bright orange flowers can be made into tinctures, lotions and creams. Try washing your skin with tea made from the flowers, or buy ready-to-use calendula skin products at health-food stores. * You may also try washing with a five percent tea tree oil gel, also available at health food stores. * Try consulting a Chinese medicine practitioner; Chinese herbal treatments, both topical and oral, can be very effective when used as acne treatments. One such treatment is astragalus (Astragalus membranaceous) from the root of a Chinese plant that can help fight chronic infections. The dose is two capsules or tablets twice a day unless the product label directs otherwise. * Increase your consumption of antioxidant-rich foods, including fruits and vegetables. * Include omega-3 fatty acids such as wild Alaskan salmon or freshly ground flaxseeds to help reduce and prevent inflammation. * Drink lots of water to keep the skin hydrated and healthy. * Limit processed and refined foods, and opt for whole, healthful foods instead. * Don't be afraid to eat a piece of dark chocolate now and then - there is no link between chocolate and acne, and dark chocolate actually has antioxidant benefits!

It seems to me like a liver/gallbladder flush would be beneficial for you. Acne is a sign that the body is ridding wastes through the skin. When the liver is 100% functional it does a VERY good job at keeping your insides clean. The recipe can easily be found in google. 15 or so flushes would get rid of almost all of your stones. After that, a maintenance flush can be done twice every month. Be sure to SWEAT. Either during exercise or in a sauna, sweating cleans the pores. Do everything else bodynotdead recommended and you will have beautiful skin.

Benzoyl Peroxide has surely done the trick! I've used it 2 or 3 times since your post and the one above yours, and I've cleared up - minus a little scarring which I use triple antibiotic ointment at night for.
I'm now wondering if it is the kind of thing one can eventually build a tolerance too. It doesn't seem like it's something you use often enough for that to happen, but I'm curious none-the-less.
Thanks for the advice, I'm very happy the solution was so simple, hopefully it is consistent as well.
Again, I'm 95% percent certain that 95% of my pimples have been the result of polluted air and water.

Everything I have read has said that the main reason for acne is genetic and has to do with things under the skin (which is why benzoyl peroxide works much better than soap) , and that there has never been any studies to prove that other factors such as food affect your skin. They do mention that there is anecdotal evidence to prove the contrary but it is usually minimal.

I strongly believe diet has so much to do with the appearence of skin. I notice that when I exclusively eat cooling raw foods high in water content it really helps my skin, smoothes it out and helps it seem more evenly toned with less breakouts. Cucumber is awesome for this. Nowadays when I see a pimple, I know it's because my body is cleansing itself and detoxifying and I feel happy instead of annoyed, because whatever is in my body...I'm glad it's coming out and releasing itself through my pores.
Also, take cooler showers. It might help.
