Quit. It's a well-known side effect.

Alot of people find that eating before getting stoned cuts down on the munchies, but this plan does not work for everyone.

I honestly think that I am addicted to food. So when I smoke I try and do it while snowboarding, or out doors where food is no wheres near or else I just let go and binge because I think subconsciously it makes it 'ok' to eat this much because im high.

So yeah, I have that issue which is another reason I try and not smoke a lot. If you cannot beat the craving try and give it up (smoking) or just start working out

fast for a day or 2, this will likely help you improve your self control. Or just set some sort of clear limits for yourself maybe. I find that always helps because if you decide what to eat beforehand you can't be like 'well why not add one more of these...' kinda things which I end up doing all the time otherwise

Tips?

1) Don't keep boxes of candy bars (or stuff like that) in the house.  Seriously, what else is going to happen if you keep buying them?  I don't buy anything that's ready-to-eat except fruit.  That way, if I want to eat, I have to work a little bit for it.

2) Question every impulse to put something in your mouth.  You don't have to eat something every time your mind says "Hey, why not eat something?" The mind is always whining and asking for gratification of some kind.  Don't listen to it. Eating junk food is one of the shittiest, most costly forms of entertainment.  If it's not mealtime, don't eat.

3) Learn how to deal with craving in general.  Buddhism was developed for this specific purpose.  Search for the Four Noble Truths and read a bit about it. Cravings will never stop popping up, so you'll have to figure out a way to respond positively to them.

Welcome evermore to gods and men is the self-helping man.  For him all doors are flung wide: him all tongues greet, all honors crown, all eyes follow with desire.  Our love goes out to him and embraces him, because he did not need it.

this is what i do when i get hungry and i know i should not eat. have a bowl of white rice, some popcorn or light soup(mostly broth).

all three are healthy and will not pack on the pounds, yet are filling enough to stave off the cravings.

drinking a big glass of water or tea helps too.
