i was making a syringe and used a small glass which i cleaned with an alcohol swab but i think i scraped the spores too soon before all the alcohol had a chance to evapurate...

are spores resistant to alcohol or is that syringe fucked?
thanks in advance...

spores and alcohol are not a good combination i guess it depends on how much alcohol there was, but you should be fine.
alcohol drys pretty fast you must have been in a rush.

Ya, if you were trying to kill mold with it some will usually live so I bet the spores will still be fine, just might be a lil slower in the beginning.

The reason why you use alcohol at all, is it's ability to kill bacteria and some mold spores, but let mushroom spores survive The one everyone around uses is 70% Isopropyl. The relatively low alcohol content isn't used because it would kill the mushroom spores, if it would be higher, but because some bacteria etc. build up some kind of protection when they get in contact with high level alcohol, while they die, when they get in contact with 70% alcohol. Since I don't know anything about chemistry, I can't tell you why it is like that, but I know that is
So don't worry about it! Your spores should be fine!

the alcohol evaporates before the remaining water evaporates. although if you couldnt wait 5 more seconds for the stuff to evaporate......... What do you expect?

Seriously, alcohol evaporates probably faster than you even had time to bust out your spores, but apparently not, lol.
Did you squirt your alcohol in there straight from the bottle or did u just whipe it in there with a c-ball or paper towel?

i used a medical swab like the ones they used to clean your skin before they inject anything or take blood.
thanks for the answers guys, this makes me and my friend feel much better!
we were in a hurry because i don't have enough time to stay for the whole deal and he had to go to work. i thought i waited enough time for the alcohol to evaporate but when i scarped in the spores i noticed they were sticking to a fluid so that kinda freaked me out.
unfortunately he didn't have all the makings for a normal verm BRF cake also (its hard to find vermiculite in israel and since i came yesterday we just went out side and tried to find everything he needs.
we just made whole rice cakes, not the best but i'm certain it will at least colonize and he can take it from there (i'll make him sign up and do some reading, the lazy bastard )
wish him luck!
