I have been trying to ummm, test my wireless network's security.
I downloaded a wireless network auditor off of piratebay. It is actually a bootable cd for windows pcs that will boot up your comp into a program (linux based i believe) and gives you the tools necessary to obtain wep keys. I have been trying to run it on my macbook by using the bootcamp option. I hold down my option key and the macbook gives me the option of booting into osx, windows xp or the cd bootdisk i downloaded. when i choose the bootdisk it starts to boot but then stalls. I think this is cuz it doesn't have proper associations with my mac hardware.
I have some questions, first, what key should i hold when booting up my windows xp bootcamp (after of course i have told it to do bootcamp and not osx) to make it interrupt the boot and prompt for booting from cd. I am hoping that if i boot up windows xp on the macbook and then press some kind of function key and get the prompt to load from cd then my boot cd will have proper access to the hardware.
Also, I was trying to mess with aircrack NG as i saw some stuff on you tube about it and elsewhere, but the aircrack i downloaded for windows xp asked me for some drivers and i got kinda scared to start messing with my setup cuz i am again, using a mac and am not sure if i can load these network drivers and mess up my parallels setup which allows me to run both osx and windows at once. i guess i want some general guidance on what program is the best.
I really like the idea of booting into this linux wireless auditor but am running into the question of how do i tell my setup to boot from the cd after first telling it to boot into bootcamp windows xp. If you have bootcamp you will know what i am talking about, if not this is probly kinda strange sounding.
I remember on old pcs i had that usually it was some kind of function key or sometimes even the c key. i know it would depend on the machine. Thank you for any general or specific help people!

Dude, I donno, It just seems fucked up that people would just hack into other people's internet. Social services already pay lazy people.

Look... hacking into someones network is ok as long as your only using it to access the internet.
Bruce Lee said "knowing is not enough, you must apply"
and on another note... I can't deal with the speed off wifi and would never look to that as a permanent connection

Kinda like breaking into someones home is ok as long as you are only using their stuff and not taking it with you, right?
When you take something with out permission you are a thief. If I want to let you use my wireless, then I will leave it open so that you can use it without trying to hack into it.
> I can't deal with the speed off wifi and would never look to that as a permanent connection
Even a slow wifi connection will be a magnitude faster than any broadband connection you can find. Trying to justify theft... "It isn't very good, so it doesn't really matter that I take it."
> Bruce Lee said "knowing is not enough, you must apply"
... cool. I will respect you, the way I respect Bruce Lee, when you apply knowledge and learn how to break WEP in a way nobody else has discovered... otherwise, you are nothing more than a script kiddie trying to justify their petty theft with colorful words.

Yeahh...
Well, as long as your accessing shroomery and not downloading Torrents all day, then it might be okay.

So you wouldn't mind some random person hanging out in your home all day, without permission, to watch television while you are at work? I guess as long as they aren't eating your food, then it might be okay.

I know... just using your example to illustrate the point. I used to feel this way about open access points as well, but after hearing Diploids side, I changed my mind.
