Falling into the Trance
    #7905142 - 01/20/08 09:53 AM (16 years, 12 days ago)

My greatest, most profound experiences have been during the periods of my trip where I attain complete privacy and peace, and I am able to just sit, relax, and let go of myself.

I've tripped alone only once or twice, so most of my trips I am around people most of the time. This doesn't allow me to let go. I keep myself at this level where I am going through some CRAZY, CRAZY SHIT in my head- shit I can't even explain...  just explosions of color and electricity in my brain, mainly on the coming up. But outwardly, I am keeping it together, still at least trying to communicate to the people around me. The social energy of the situation remains, and I am unable to fall into the trance that the entheogen is incessantly trying to get me into.

If one can be alone and still while they are tripping, with their eyes closed in the darkness, the most amazing journeys possible take place. There is nothing else to do, besides explore  and analyze your own mental chatter.

It is here, in this psychadelic zone of sorts, that you can completely lose your ego.

The first time I experienced astral projection was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I had known about the idea for a couple of years and had started meditating nightly, trying to consciously attain an out of body experience where I could explore alternate alien dimensions void of physical existence and maybe meet my spirit guide.

However, the first time I actually achieved this phenomenon a few years ago, it was completely unintentional. I was listening to Coldplay - Shiver on repeat through headphones when I fell asleep. (I was obsessed with the song, and a girl, during the time.) I was staring at my digital clock, and I felt myself starting to doze off...

The next thing I knew, I felt my awareness centered in my eyes, and there was an amazing amount of energy flowing through my body. These vibrations are often felt while the consciousness is expanding beyond its physical shell. They almost hurt.

I realized what was going on, and my heart felt as if it was racing faster than it ever should. I was getting excited, which is not the thing to do in this state - you have to concentrate  the entire time to maintain it. I started concentrating my energy into my hara (the solar plexus chakra, where energy conjoins and spirals outward), and it took very little effort to do this in this energy-sensitive brain state. I felt bursts of overwhelming energy... and then I broke through some kind of barrier.

I could "see" a vague outline of my room, as I floated up above my body. I immediately felt something pull me in a distinct direction, directly towards a wall. I expected that I was about to pass straight through the wall, being on a plane of awareness that overlaid the physical one, but right when I was about to I found myself right back in my body. I didn't even feel being pulled back- it was like I teleported there.

Some say we do this every night, but the memory is forgotten pretty much immediately upon awakening. And even when you have an incredibly epic journey in this timeless dimension, you can forget it as soon as you're returning to your body if you  do not contain the capacity to concentrate long enough. If you hone this skill, you will remember more and more of your natural psychadelic journey you take every time you fall asleep.

The vibrations slowly faded away and I awoke, crying and shivering! It was something I had never felt before. When one exits their body in such a way, it's very easy to feel "naked" without the physical shell.

I have experienced this a few more times, but never for very long, and they always seem to be unintentional. The other most notable experience was when I fell asleep on a futon, and then felt myself roll out onto the floor, and felt incredibly naked because it was my pure awareness expanding far beyond its physical limits. It's not a state most of us are used to.

There are some who have claimed they have mastered this skill and can consciously project at will.

Then there are people like me, who just take the shortcut and ingest a large amount of entheogenic material to blast my third eye right the fuck open, man!!! :mushroom2:

I don't think I've ever left my body, as there is always going to be a correlation between whatever sense of self I have (even if it is intergalactical) and my body.

I could compare it more to a tether from the center of self, and your mind itself is kind of like The Truman Show, except upon reaching that outer edge, you cannot leave, forever stuck in your world that you have the total liberation of manifesting whatever you want, essentially.

On that note, music is a dimension which must be entered through the use of tools/instructions--An innate astral projection of somesorts?
Also relates to Shamans that use heavy, rhythmic breathing to induce a psychedelic experience.

yeah its interesting stuff, music can certainly bring you in the void. last time i had an experience like that i was sleeping, awoke suddenly in the early morning, went back to sleep, then i heard my phone ringing, but it was actually myself vibrating at an extreme frequency, i felt my foot leave its physical form, but i woke up to answer the phone.

dreams can bring you where you want to go as well, one experience i had was on jupiter on the astral plane exploring the ruins of atlantis. another one where i was exploring ruins of either the mayan or aztec empires and temples. theres a lot more to those experiences but i'll leave it at that.

Like lifetimes within a moment... dreams are amazing.

Perhaps our mind is a timeless and spaceless individual dimension composed of limits set only by our imagination.

For most of us, our mental dimensions retain physical properties... we can't help it, because we're hard-wired onto the physical plane while our metaphorical astral chord is attached to our physical vessel.

Supposedly.
