Sealing holes in an incubator tub...

The tubs I have available for constructing my incubator (just the simple, two-tub/fishtank heater type) have a couple small, round holes in the bottom and I was wondering if anybody had a suggestion on what to seal those with. Duct tape is supposed to be waterproof but I've never tried it and it sounds iffy so I don't really know. Help?

naw.. why dont you just make a heatbomb or something and put a towel down.. search 'heatbomb tek'
that a way you wont have to mess with sealing up the holes.

Heatbomb won't generate a satisfactory amount of heat for the size tub i have.

Why? Don't you heat your house? All your jars need is 75F to 80F to be in the maximum rate of growth range. Usually, a high bookshelf near the ceiling is perfect without any extra heat. RR

Well it's been eight days since the shoot, no signs of mycelium in any of my 24 quart jars. My friends post about our problem yielded loads of "incubate your shit!" responses, so that's what we are trying to do.

Well I'll be one to tell you DON"T INCUBATE YOUR SHIT. The more you mess around with heat the more it's just messes with your setup. Just leave them in an area where you are comfortable in a tshirt and leave them alone.

whoa..... leave the heat alone... dont worry about it.. room temp is kosher... if you inoculated from a spore syringe, then expect a delay.. spores take longer to grow than an actual fungi transfer, if you will.. haha.. just give it time..
the biggest mistake alot of cats make is being impatient... just let it sit, IN THE DARK, for another 3-5 days, WITHOUT LOOKING... you will for sure see growth... dont peek everyday.. it will slow growth if you constantly expose the to light...

Yeah I've only looked at them twice expecting to have to shake them, but okay, I'll just let them chill for a little longer.

You guys are always saying dont incubate your stuff over and over that this is a terrible thing, however you guys dont realize some of us have to, i live in Northern Canada and i live on wood heat therefore a steady room temp of 75 is not in my books sometimes my room goes from 50 to 80 depends on how much i watch the stove. So you cant always say do not incubate unless you know all the details. This isnt attacking you at all just i see this same post all the time and i just thought its about time someone said that maybe you guys are not always giving the best advice in certiain circumstances such as mine, Thanks

If you're running on wood heat what you're using Tobes is an insulator. Not an incubator . But I do see you're point. How about this for a compromise of advice: If you're room regularly get's below 60 and you want your mushrooms in the next 2 month then it's safe to probably say you should incubate them. But when people have a 75F house and they want to incubate that extra 6 degrees to get to 81 so they can have shrooms yesterday...this we generally ill advise.
