mile high mycelium!!
    #790218 - 08/01/02 10:20 AM (14 years, 10 months ago)

hey i used the half pint pf jar recipe for my shrooms. not one place i looked had any jars so i used glasses instead. the glasses i used are a lot bigger than half a pint and i just took a look at them for the first time after innoculating them a week ago and i was like shit cuz white fuzz has grown all the way to the top (i had a lotta spores to waste so i think i had put about 3ccs in each glass) i was wondering if i should transfer them to a terrium since theres soo much mycelium but im not sure since they are not 100% colonized. any suggestions?

also i have another batch where i did not go soo plunger happy with the syringe and they dont have any signs of mycelium yet. how long have some of u waited to see any results?

if it's not 100% do NOT birth it, you're begging for contams otherwise.

2 weeks is a safe bet.

If they're not 100% colonized, don't transfer them anywhere for the love of god.

I got my jars at Wal-Mart. They're popping up everywhere like shrooms.

Say, can I have some of your purple berries?
Yes, I've been eating them, for six or seven weeks now, haven't got sick once.

Hey.. I'll post a contrary opinion to you all.

In the past I have birthed without full colonisation (say if there was a real tough spot that the mycellium was just having no luck with) and had good success. As soon as the cake is put into a terrarium it adds a lot of bulk to the mycellium anyway so generally within about 24 hours the patch may be gone.

That being said that was only because basically the patch was so stuck to the glass it just wasn't going anywhere for quite a while. Birth only if you're desperate and do not fan or open the terrarium after you birth them. Wait for them to finish.

By desperate I mean its not growing atall. Do not birth because you need a certain amount of fruits in 3 days or whatever. The reason everybody here says a straight no is because the risk is often not worth taking. Think long and hard about whether you should do it because it is definitely risky.
