ID requests
    #7901955 - 01/19/08 02:16 PM (16 years, 13 days ago)

Just back from the nursery and picked up these three specimens..

This one I have my fingers crossed to be a T.macrogomus

This I believe may be some type of Cereus monstrose...

And finally, I have no idea what this may be, but I thought it looked really cool...

thanks for the help!

First cactus looks like a peruvianoid/macrogonoid.  Nice find.

The odds are nil that it's an Icaros if he got it from a nursery.  And you couldn't say it was one unless you were certain it was grown from Icaro seed/cutting.  A named Tricho can't be IDed with certainty from its phenotype.  You can usually tell if it's peruvianoid/pachanoid/bridgesoid/etc, but you can't just by looking at it say for certain it's an Eileen/Super Pedro/Los Gentiles.  You'd have to know the genetics.

true
but it does look an awful lot like my Peruvians

oh and thats one of my seedlings I impale grafted like in the thread Ooklas ghetto grafting guide.
I cut the Pereskiopsis shorter and buried it and now the Torch has plumped back up and is starting to resume growth

i think u are correct when u say the second specimen is some form of monstrose cereus, it certainly bears some similarities to cereus peruvianus monstrose in its morphology... so i think cereus is the correct genus at least...

as for the last one... ive never seen anything like it!!! a close up on one of the "balls" may help :yesnod:
