I agree. (And I have the 25-lb. bag of rice to prove it!)

hells yeah! I like to mix some gomasio (toasted sesame seeds and sea salt)in it, and I crush up some toasted nori seaweed (I usually use half a square sheet) and sprinkle some more gomasio on top as a garnish. Makes for an amazing supper with a side of edamame and a small bowl of daikon kimchi.

I like it with black beans, fresh veggies & "Yumm" sauce. I don't know if it is sold nationally yet, but it's worth searching for!

It's great and a lot more nutritious than white, but people tend to swing towards white.

Take some of that brown rice and put it in a hot pan, wait until it browns and add a can of tomatoes. Add just enough liquid to cover the rice. Cover, simmer, wait until its done and eat it.

i've got a bag of both long and short grain in my fridge. although, my rice dish repertoire is rather limited to plain, or veggie/meat stir fry. simply because that's the fastest, easiest tasty way i know to do it.
dobie, with that tomato thing you recommended. when you throw rice into a pan and heat till it's brown, you're talking about uncooked rice, right? what does that period of heat sans liquid do?

Yes, use raw.
Honestly, I'm not sure what it does..and I should mention that the browning is very slight. If it gets too brown, it's burnt.
The recipe was given to me by a real live chicana and is very delicious.

When you roast the brown rice lightly, it brings out the natural nutty flavor of the oil contained within the germ.
