No. Cotton is a substrate material, and if it gets wet, molds will colonize it. You must provide filtered gas exchange. My preference is synthetic filter disks, but other methods work as well.

just make a hole the width of a pencil or pen and push and pull a wad of polyfill through that hole.

polyfil=pillow stuffing or stuffed animal stuffing or aquarium filter or cheap jacket stuffing. its the cottony like thing made outta plastic.

i like to put a layer of tyvek then polyfil just so the polyfil dont get wet while shaking or whatnot., but ive gotten away without the tyvek so many times. and it isnt neccessary.
