Why the "biggest"? Anything that is as ambiguous as the bible can turn into a metaphor

I think it is too.
BUT it is myth mixed with fact... and believers tend to think it was handed down by God. An interesting book, and it has been the root of many problems.

Religions in general tend to be problematic. Especially for those not involved in them.

Religions are not problematic for me, so long as they stay out of the public schools and the law books.

I don't care if this has or hasn't been posted (I don't care to read all 5 pages of text before this post), but to the OP, you should read Terence Mckenna's Food of the Gods. You'd probably enjoy it.

I liked his writings. I have some of his stuff on tape and once owned many of his books. Still, I do not and have never loved the dead and I want that on the record.

If in fact you believe the story. If you don't believe the story then there is no forbidden fruit. Either way it could not be mushrooms as mushrooms are available to us.
ACTUALLY, the bible does not state that the tree of life was no longer available. It simply says that angels were placed at the gates of eden.
Eden being a garden of some sort ( ... bullshit ) would mean there was more then one entrance. Besides, that story carry's very little rationality and could mean very many things to very many people in very different perspectives.

That's why the Bible is the most dangerous book EVAR.

I don't want to start quoting a bunch of the Bible here but need to refute what future said. This is of course continuing with the premise of the story being true.
Gen 3 verse 23 &24: therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.
So He drove out the man; and he placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.

Not saying if I think it's true or not. Just stating what is actually written for others to make their own decisions.

Debating the semantic implications of the Bible in English is an absurd pursuit.
