I just turned back after seeing two lines of people waiting for just one screening, and I arrived 45 minutes early too!
Well, really it doesn't matter to me. I smoked up right before entering which had me smooth sailing. I don't have to see this movie. Maybe I'll watch it online at some point.
Good luck finding seats!

If the theatre seems packed at 10:10, then I'll watch it sunday.

Fuck that movie. It's supposed to be terrible.
If you do end up seeing it, load up on dramamine so you don't blow chunks because of the shitty camera work.

Do not see this movie on a full stomach!
I just got back from seeing it and there was probably 5-7 people who got up left, hurrying as fast as they could. The majority of the people in the audience got some sort of motion sickness. The lady to the right of me didnt even see the movie. She had one hand over her mouth and one hand over her eyes.
As for the movie, I loved it. There are some legitimate "holy shit, that was unbelievable" moments. The terrible camerawork does get tedious after awhile though. I think that a lot of people were not expecting it. I was, so I didn't get that sick.

So is the camera work reminiscent of "The Blair Witch Project"? A lot of people complained about that one also but it didn't bother me.
Anyway, I haven't been in a theater in 2 1/2 years and I won't be starting again for this one.

the review in the paper this morning said that it was a cross between godzilla and the blair witch project. the BWP reference is enough to make me not want to see it.

The camera was done that way intentionally. The movie was supposed to be a government recovered video shot by an amateur. It didn't bother me, but I don't get motion sick. The two people I went with complained about the camera making them very ill. The monster looks like...
***SPOILER***
An ape/praying mantis. Approximately 150 feet tall. Shorter or taller in some shots.

I work at a theater, and people do complain about the camera. One guy even refunded his ticket because he said the movie was giving him a headache. I've only seen parts of it from doing theater checks, but I can understand how it could give somone a headache/ make them sick.

Yeah, 'made for the youtube generation'.
No one on youtube really wants their videos to look that crappy, they just can't afford $2,500 dollar cameras + the gear. :p

I saw it last night....
meh, I wish I didn't pay $8 for it.
It was ok but something that probably should've just come out for TV... like on USA or AMC... idk, I felt the same with that as I did with I am Legend, where I liked it but it didn't do 'it' for me.

why don't you skeptics just see it for yourself and decide for yourself.
i saw it, i thought it's the most intense movie i have ever seen. some amazing "oh......shit." moments. if you get motion sickness easily, you might want to sit farther away from the screen. those that were sitting close, i noticed had to move a bit farther back. my buddy who i went to see it with, also got a little nauseous.
i really recommend this movie.

I am Legend is quite possibly the worst movie I've ever seen. It was a complete yawnfest and if that guy thought the ending to Cloverfield was bed, I can't even imagine how he can say I am Legend was better.
THere were a few scenes in Cloverfield where I actually got goosebumps running up and down my arms. I thought it was incredibly well done and should win an Academy Award for sound design...

both the movies are in the same category imo. One has a 1st person view while the other is 3rd.
it would seem like the same asshole directed and produced both movies.
They both had their moments but definately can never compare to the first time I saw Spiderman I.

CF left me disappointed. I don't mind a shaky camera, like for instance the technique used in The Bourne Ultimatum, but this movie would've been better off if it was shot from a different perspective. Constantly running and jumping in first person is better suited for a motion simulator, not for cinema IMHO.

at least you explained your opinion, and i can completely respect that, even though i differ in mine in regards to the movie. i hate it when people just say stuff like "that movie was gay" or "that movie sucked". well dammit people, explain what you mean by "gay" or "suckage"!!!

I felt like this movie really personified a lot of human fears...particularly anything that has to do with an infrastructure being decimated under unknown circumstances.
I came into this movie expecting it to be a typically lame monster movie. And although it answered no questions, and the point of view as well as the script (seriously...what girl would where heals and then carry them in such a scenario?) I was pleasantly surprised by the 1 twist they put in.
Overall I was tense the entire movie, and I dont really dig monster movie. Plus it was short for my attention span

i saw it, i thought it's the most intense movie i have ever seen. some amazing "oh......shit." moments. if you get motion sickness easily, you might want to sit farther away from the screen. those that were sitting close, i noticed had to move a bit farther back. my buddy who i went to see it with, also got a little nauseous.
i really recommend this movie.

I don't know, but it's on the net
Great movie! I enjoyed the camera style...don't know what anyone's talking about with motion sickness.

Fucking awesome movie, but also the first movie that I've seen that gave me motion sickness so bad I had to leave the theater.
That being said, Cloverfield raped I am Legend.

The scene where will smith and the dog are in the bathtub trying to sleep while you hear all the monsters outside was the only tense, good scene in that movie and it lasted a whole minute. The rest of that movie was complete bullshit.

Anyway, I haven't been in a theater in 2 1/2 years and I won't be starting again for this one.
I have a theory alot of classic plot lines are about to be "blair whiched"
cloverfield sucked.
