That sucks.
I dont think we are talking about the same thing.
Im glad you have come to your own supposedly "unique" conclusion.
Good for you.
I cant offer you evidence of heavens existence. That supposed afterlife is not even something I was talking about.
Everyone wishes there was some sort of afterlife. That has nothing to do with what I was saying though.
I wish there was an afterlife too. Most people live for their religion. Their own afterlife.
In some way this is very selfish and godless. To rely on an afterlife to dictate your actions on earth or to dictate your place in the afterlife. I wish there was an afterlife too. That doesnt mean I dont believe in god.
I wish I didnt see where all you pesimists are coming from, but I do for the most part.
Sorry so many people think god is not real and that he screwed you out of an afterlife.
Aint that a bitch.
You want life. Ya cant live forever and its hard to even understand any supposedly divine text or thought in your head if that simple fact pisses you off.

yageman, i love how people who are ex-athiests suddenly "see the light" and think you have to be more intelligent to believe in something rather than believe in nothing.
you science guy you.
i'm not saying i have all the answers but i can tell you what god isn't.
when you pray, god isn't listening to you. when you curse, god isn't going to damn you to hell. when you die, god isn't going to decide where you spend eternity.
fact is, a god like that doesn't exsist. god could be a metaphor for the sun, for nature, for many things. but sorry to say a 'loving' and 'forgiving' god does not exsist, and most likely when you die, that will be the very end.
so enjoy your imaginary friend.

my idea of an afterlife is that there isn't one.
and to me this is complete bliss.
don't get me wrong, i'm going to live as long as i can and enjoy the ups and downs of life, but when its all over and you die there is no more pain or suffering. no more good times or bad times. just nothing.
death is a beautiful thing.
we should celebrate it more often.

I said nothing about my opinion of the "afterlife".
Did I say I saw some light?
You jackass.
just kidding. I dont give a shit about what you believe.
Just leave it alone and stop fuckin with my ambiguous opinion.
I didnt say shit except explaining my approach.
Serry about that.
My approach allows any output.

Most of us would agree there exist ZERO evidence for God or universal creator/universal spirit. The reason is "absence"...nobody is 100% sure what set off the big bang, but just because we don't know at the moment doesn't mean we automatically say a god/creator did it. Following that same logic, it would be illogical to assume we have souls or that there is an afterlife waiting for us. From the energy sources we have been able to detect, none of them have direct interface with our mind or body. So that would single out the existance of souls UNTIL it is scientifically observable, until then it is only wishful thinking.

yageman, I really want to thank you for posting that. It actually inspired me very much. I kinda want to say I believe the same thing as you, but I'm not talented enough with the language to word it as you just did.
EDIT: I was talking about your first post in the thread.
but yeah. Your post aside, I would have just said that I think there's a definite "grand reason" why all of a sudden matter started to complicate itself into genes, into D.N.A., into chromosomes, into cells, into you &me, etc.. other than a freak occurance of the "primordial soup" mixing in just the right way..
I have a weird hunch that "the will to live" existed longer than we know....
or some shit.

We contemplate oblivion, as we resonate our dissonance. In godless, Random interpretation. The universe still expands, mankind still can't understand How to define you So hide your face, and watch us exterminate ourselves. Over you. Welcome to the end my friend, the sky has opened!-Nevermore
Can't prove or disprove the existence of any God/Goddesses/Machine elves so stating that either is fact is ignorant. And getting fussy over someone else's reality is immature. We'll all get our answers after death, so until then eat your shrooms, smoke your DMT, and explore your dreams..."or some shit."

I was a Christian until 9th grade. I became completely athiest and saw no hope in their being a creator. Then I shroomed and realized how stupid that was. I still don't believe in an afterlife but after my ++++ trip I know there is a greater, beautiful purpose that is a little bit above our understanding. And I don't pray or anything, I don't believe that god is a person in any form or would want to help an individual in anyway. God could just be the force behind nature that causes it to evolve and change and want to survive, or some other concept we can't really grasp.

I believe in the God of the Bible and I believe He wants to give me the best in life and I believe He loves every one of us. There is nothing anyone could say to change that. I never was an athiest, I just hated God. However now that I believe in Him, I also believe He wants me to have the best in life like the Bible says and a funny thing happened when I stopped trying to form the religion to myself, but rather chose to accept I may not understand everything, but He is God and what He says goes. The main point I am making is the more I believ He wants to bless me, the more stuff He gives me. So I feel bad for those who go through life alone. I have seen demons with several other people , all of which had never done drugs before, so if they are real it stands to reason the other side is too.
I have been so abundantly blessed that I could go from a heroin addict/crack-head to a successful business owner, and for that I give God the glory. I respect all of your opinions though so please don't start blasting me for my beliefs. I don't push them on anyone

I'm not sure. I'm more a mix between an agnostic and a nihilist. Whether there is a God and whichever, if any, religion is correct, I just don't care. I worry about me and my life as it's happening and don't care to be scared by some sky-daddy (that may or may not exist) shaking his finger at me from billions of years ago.

I put yes. I believe in a force of pure love and positivity that permeates everything when one reaches a state of pure awareness. However, it's not a substantial thing- it's a state of mind rather than an external being. It's real in that one can ascend to a state of being in which there is only peace, love and wellbeing.
In terms of some magical man in the sky who judges people- NO.

It is impossible to know wheteher or not god exists, there is no proof for eaither side of the argument. For sure religions are man made but that doesn't invalidate the concept of a god.

I dont know guruu. Im not so sure you know enough about physics if you believe your last sentence to actually be true, that is, unless you dont see order that is beyond beyond.
Even a fucking algebra class or two could teach you something about the complexity of reality.
Dont try to tell me I was not saying ANYTHING.
Im not fucking writing a book here, so give me a break. Read between the lines if you are one of those people who even sort of gets what im saying.
I'm not overtly disagreeing with you. If tripping has taught me anything its that there are things out there which I simply do not understand, so I feel it would be arrogant to completely rule out any sort of possibility.
I am very interested in physics, although I won't pretend to have the sort of understanding about it some people do, but I have seen how some incredible things are being explained by science, like particles being in two places at once (for some of you this is probably elementary physics but it aint for me). I personally believe that nothing is above science, that if there was a god it would not be above physics to explain him/it. So I don't know, maybe I'm actually agreeing with you, but I don't see science having any intelligence behind it in the form of a being. I think it's beutiful how natural laws can self-sufficiently govern our universe, and maybe that's what you're actually talking about, I don't know.
