grain substrates. Try the alien substrate I have that inoculated with some brazillians and cambodians and they have colonizing beatifully after only 5 days. The last grow had the same substrate but with some strain I found while visiting Florida and dam were they potent, strongest I ever had. The alien substrate is a little hard though so if your lazy then just use brown rice flour and vermiculite. There are plenty of good pf teks and this website.

Necessary= yes

Higher chance of success in normal pot?= PF-TEK Brown Rice Flour/Vermiculite

If money is an issue Walmart has 6 qt PCs by presto for around 40 bucks, it can fit 5 pints, 2 quarts sideways or about 8 or so 1/2 pints.

Neccessary = No

Highly Recommended = Yes

You can use fractional sterilization to sterilize grains without a PC, although it is such a pain in the ass, you'll probably get a PC after trying it once. I believe FungusMan also posted that he had success boiling his WBS jars a long time ago. I REALLY don't feel like searching for those old post(s), but you are welcome to.

a PC is probably the absolute best thing you can buy for this hobby, save your cash and get a cheap one at walmart, it will save you a shit load of time and money in the long run
