Is it possible to pc spawn in those heavy duty glad storage bags to make your own spawn bags. I just started a grow and made to much spawn, I have 20 pounds. I was just going to inoculate this and just throw it in a tub and case it.

not sure if the glad bags would work but it would be nice to find an alternative to pricey poly bags that are seemingly only available online
ive considered using contractor bags. they are basically big trash bags that are VERY thick, not sure if it would work though, and they are probably too big, you would end up cutting a lot of it off and wasting money
if anyone knows of a readily available product that can preferably be purchased locally as an alternative to spawn bags let us know!
ive heard you can use oven bags to pasteurize but i dont think you can preserve and store spawn in oven bags, not sure though

Yo, my advice... Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Once its fuct, its fuct. Get it?

i agree with you FellowGrower, the question is what "baskets" to use?
i think im going to experiment with few different things today, i was thinking maybe even 5 gallon water bottles, just need to find a container that can withstand heats up to 200 degrees
im still interested to learn what others are using to pasteurize and store bulk sub.

Pastuerizing bulk subs is pretty easy. There is a link in my sig that shows an easy way to do a decent sized batch. You can also pasteurize a larger ice chest full of straw, poo, etc. by turning your water heater up to it's max temperature, which is usually in the 160-170F range. Wait at least 4-6 hours for the water to heat up and use this hot water to fill the ice chest, which will keep the heat insulated and within pastuerizing range for hours. Ice chests also have a nice plug on the bottom to drain the water when you're done. For storage, you can place pasteurized subs in sealed poly bags and freeze them. When you want to use the frozen sub again, let it thaw for about 48 hours. If you don't have the storage space in the freezer, I'd just keep the bulk sub dry until you're ready to use it.
Edit:
I wanted to add a serious precaution before raising the temperature on your hot water heater to the 160-170F range. If you do this, MAKE SURE that anyone that may possibly be using your sink or shower is aware of it and knows not to use the hot water. You do not want to be sneaky about this, as 160-170F water is EXTREMELY HOT and can kill someone! It would only take a seconds for someone to be severely burned at those temperatures, especially children or the elderly. Please BE CAREFUL if you ever do this.

...Be more specific... b/c those NEW ones they make with the vaccum sealer, can stand boiling water temps. I used em and it worked fine. What I did is just suspend em over a pot of boiling water and put thick rubber gloves on to shake up the bags and distribute the heat about every 15 min. for like 2 hrs. then, let em cool, Innoc. Vaccum out the air, Inncubated, then every 2 or 3 days (in a sterile enviroment) I opened em, and re-sealed, Re vaccum. (for gas exchange)
The one basket comment was speaking to the idea of colonizing, then put em in one big tub... I was pointing out that lets say one bag was fuct, but the others were fine, by making one big casing, you just fuct all your colonized sub. By baskets I mean Casings. Make as many casings as you do bags. (don't cross contaminate) make sense?
...Oh, yeah, that was WBS I put in the bags. dont know if wet poo would work. Might get to hot
