Well, it may be a lower scoring game then what I predict here (because the Chargers D is pretty sick)... but I'd love for it to be a close good scoring game.

They very well could but I wouldn't put my money on it.

If we dont have Rivers I dont see us winning. Volek is a decent backup, but I dont think he will be able to play 4 quarters of a game.
I pick San Diego for no other reason than I am a fan and I put a lot of faith in my team.
Realistically though, its hard to see how they will win.

Well... I am trying to be realistic about this. Of course, I didnt think we were going to beat the Colts for the second time in one season. I hope I am wrong. Ive been waiting to see this again since 1994? I think that was the year. I was a child then but I remember watching us upset the team in the AFC Championship game. Infact, I think it was the Steelers we upset.

Bear in mind the Ravens came within a cunt hair of beating the Pats with Kyle Boller at the helm. I believe Volek is at least as capable as Boller.
It was the Ravens D that would have won them the game had their assistant coach not called an ill-advised time out.
If the Chargers beat the Pats it will be because of a Herculean effort from the Bolts defense.
Chargers defense is looking mighty fine right now and Antonio Cromartie has IMO emerged as the most exciting and talented defensive player since Deion Sanders roamed the secondary.
Say what you will regarding Sander's grandiose attitude but his skills were razor sharp back when he played with the Falcons.
Admittedly, NE is a machine and they are the team of the decade but I have faith in the underdog and a huge upset.

I think the way for any team to beat the Pats (as proven by a few teams that have come close) is to blitz the shit out of Brady. If he doesnt have 15 seconds to throw the ball any team has a shot at beating them. I just think their O-Line is incredible. Im interested to see how San Diego's D is run on Sunday. The first time we played them Merriman was in coverage half the time (a place he obviously doesnt excell at).

Yeah. I think regardless of any "what if" scenarios, or "if the chargers do this", the Pats still win. They have a way of winning, even if a defense is solid against them and the other team doesn't make big mistakes. They're talented enough to win regardless of the OTHER team's performance.

it's hard to stop a quarterback whose completing 90% of his throws.
not to mention, besides having Cromartie, San Diego's Passing D ranks outside the top 10.

They can't win if they let Brady nickel & dime them non-stop. He only completes sixty nine percent because he throw thirty screens and two long balls a game.
