yet another religious thread
    #789286 - 07/31/02 09:10 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

Obviously philosophy is no longer allowed here, so I thought I?d stick with what I know will be.

I?ll let the picture do all the talking:

Wait a minute, maybe I shouldn?t. I?d say there?s a pretty damn good chance it?ll get bumped to OTD if I don?t explain myself.

The question at hand is:
Why are there so many man-made laws and so few of God?s?
(let?s just hope that?s clear enough)

Dude, I moved your last post to OTD because I read the link and it looked like OTD material. Like I said I am on dialup right now so downloading a movie isn't the easiest thing in the world. If you want it moved back just SAY SO. No one here is on a power trip.

As to why there are so many man made laws, I think it is because most humans want order out of chaos. God's law..or Universal law as I call it, is all permeating beyond any man made law.

i agree, they want order out of chaos, and those who create these laws feel the need to control, put restrictions on others, and create their own rules.

Hey Shroomism -
I'm really not all that concerned about you moving my post...I was just under the impression that you moved it cause you thought that it didn't belong, and I got upset about the fact that you didn't even bother to inquire as to why I thought it did. Quite frankly I could care less about it being moved, this is really more of a principle sort of thing then anything else. I just found it a bit unerving that all of the sudden something I was trying to share winds up disappearing into thin air...and I wasn't informed about where it went, or why it was moved, or anything.

I realize that you were just doing your job, and that that sort of thing isn't part of the job description...but it would have been nice to have not been left in the dark about these sorts of things. I mean, how would you like it if one of your posts were moved for no apparent reason, and no one even did so much as to let you know what happened to it? I would bet you'd be a bit upset about it too.

Excellent question...

I think it is because the Commandments teach principals and laws are about actual actions...a principal is common courtesy, however, that is open to interpretation, so laws try to give specfic interpretation...know what I mean?

I know exactly what you mean, and it makes perfect sense to me...but what do ya say we take this one step further, huh?

By using 'laws' that are open to interpretation, I would think that God wanted it that way. If that's the case - do you think human beings in general are one-upping him by taking away that vagueness and instilling our own rules of conduct, or do you think that was the intention all along?

I guess what I'm trying to say is:
Did God want us to take matters into our own hands' and build upon his examples?
Or do you think we are over-stepping our boundaries by refining God's word?

I think that God wants us to decide for ourselves, as individuals and allow others to do the same (though shall not judge).
