Psilocybin Degradation

Does psilocybin degrade at a specific temperature? What is the highest temperature I can store my mushies at without damaging the psilocybin content? Any comments much appreciated.

I read somewhere here that it was around 300-400 but I forget who it was and if they are correct.
ppl in chat seem to disagree and suggest a temp of around 180+

From my own observations/reading:
Psilocybin degrades into psilocin, and psilocin decomposes with contact with oxygen. Heat (under a certain temp) just speeds up this process. If you have the actives submerged in water, it takes a lot more heat to decompose them than if they are in air. If you wanna see this in action, grind some up mush powder, mix it with some water and let it simmer on med-low on the stove without stirring it - only the mush that's on the surface will oxidize and blue.
If you have the mushrooms submerged in water, you can subject them to boiling temperatures for short periods (even up to 30 miutes) and not lose much of the actives.

you are thinking of PSILOCIN.
psilocin degrades as its dried. psilocybin is pretty resilient and is broken down by your body INTO psilocin.

To add to the original question:

I have stored amounts in a non-temperature controlled environment for 3 months in the summer (100+ degree heat outside, was about 130+ inside due to GH effect) and all that happened is they stunk worse than they usually do. Still had all the magic.

The don't degrade by any noticeable degree, the slightest taste of fresh mushrooms is disgusting and therefore I almost always eat them dry and have noticed no difference in potency one way or the other

Almost all psilocin degrades as they dry, it's a very unstable chemical. Psilocybin and psilocin are sensitive to oxidation, with psilocin being particularly sensitive. This process is accelerated at higher temperatures. There is no specific temperature at which this breakdown occurs, however, the longer you expose the psilocybin to a raised temperature (in the presence of oxygen or an oxidizer), the more will be degraded. To my knowledge, there has been no study or report of anyone quantifying the amount of degradation at various temperatures. Qualitative reports however seem to indicate that less than an hour of boiling or steeping seems to have little to no effect on the potency of psiloc(yb)in water solution.

haha 'on the floor' ... well, what can I say, you people were lucky - me and my bfriend ate some old shrooms (6 mths old, kept on room-temperature) with a MAOI (syrian rue extract) and we both had a nightmare - genuine poisoning with painful (electro-shock-like) contractions of thr heart-surrounding-muscles, heart-ACHE (!), sore muscles/muscle-ache of the whole body, very very negative hallucinations (pulsating patterns which just resemble those on shrooms but very hostile), darkening of the mind, swelling feeling of the interns, headache, rotten taste in the mouth, coming from the stomach ... endless WRONG symptoms. It took us four days to fully recover.
Another thing, we started to feel that poisoned shroom-tea only after some 2 and a half hours!!! and normally one feels the effects of the tea very very quickly, almost already at the last sip! It's not something to play with - please don't eat old shrooms!!!

It was sarcasm, however I have learned to appreciate my bad trips as well as my goodtrips, they are all just apart of the mind expanding mushroom experience.
Life wouldn't be life without bad things and good things.
So obviously mushrooms cant be mushrooms without both either.
It's all in your head!
I ate some nasty mushos once and it felt like I died and I was in heaven but I was like vomiting black shit up...
Needless to say it was horrible, but still enlightening.
