what temp do you incubate woodloving spawn at? I keep mine between 50 and 60 degrees it works but it takes along time to colonize. Is there any thing i can do to speed up the process.

Hey Wyatt! I started some myself on Dec. 30th and more on Jan 9th. I was asking the same question the other day on the list. The only incubation temps I have found suggest that 40-70 degrees is the Myc's ideal growing temp. I have found no temp reference for the actual incubation period. Other than folks suggesting "room temp" whatever that means to each individual? I started my fist batch in the 75-77 range and it was slow going. I shifted the temp to 65-67 for the second group and it is moving a bit faster. I think in general the woodlover's are hardy and move a little slower at first. Once on wood they should move quicker. Good luck with yours. Mine are PF Tek 1/2 pints with BRF and Verm.

wyatt, I have mine at room temp, the low 70's. You can get away with low 80's but they do not need the heat. 50-60 is oky also.
When i dump the grain spawn outside and cover it with a inch of wood chips it only takes 2-3 weeks for the chips to colonize and its only 50-60 outside right now

wyatt, was it you that had the pics of the cyans growing in the tub? Whoever it was would put the tubs outside in the fall and they would grow great

I incubated ps. ovoidiocystidiata(sp?) at the same temp as I would cubes. It took 2 and a half weeks for 1/2 pint brf to fully colonize. I then transfered it to woodchips and then incubated at room temp and a 10 gallon tote of chips was fully colonized in 3 weeks.
