How Small Can a Mono-tub be?

I have an issue that I should have thought of before I started....
I had 4 syringes of spores and each one contained a different strain so I knocked up 3 quarts (75% Full) for each strain for a total of 12 quarts...more than enough to do a mono tub.
Now the lighting strikes my small brain and I realize that I can't mix them in the same tub. I really wanted to try the mono tub case-it and leave-it thing but according to the spawn calculator to achieve a 3.5 to 4 inch substrate level with a 4:1 ratio in the containers I have, I need 3.3 to 3.8 quarts of spawn. By my calculation I only have 3 X 75% = 2.5 quarts of each strain. My container is a standard rubbermaid 23 X 16 or 21 X 15 (inner measurement).
I assume I have to do 4 separate mono tubs, but how small can I go? I found some plastic containers that where 15 X 15 8 gallon, but I wasn't sure how small I could go before I mess up the airflow/growing space.

it can be as big or small as you want... do four small ones, and just treat them like big ones...

Depends how much sub you have versus the area in your tub. If your sub is to small you wont get that natural "heat" that radiates off the core of your mono that not only heats your tub but helps with the humidity. Second, if your area is to small, it will have a hard time keep the RH once its there. And another thing is your tub wont "breath" like larger ones if your dimensions are off.
People do what monos do with 2 little bottles. The smaller you roll the slimmer the chance you hit the "perfect" window.

Monotubs can be any size, I personally used mini trash cans that were about 1.5 feet tall and 1 foot in diameter.

Makes me wonder how big you could go with a monotub before encountering some kind of complications. And what would they be, if they were to exist. Then again I haven't been able to find any tubs bigger than 54 gallons. Would there be a point?

The couple complications I'm thinking of are that it would be hard to spot a contaminant in such a large substrate and that you would need to keep the temperatures lower because of all the heat that would be generated during colonization. Having a contaminant would mean the loss of a large amount of substrate as opposed to using a few smaller tubs.

you can seperate a monotub with garbage bags, look at fahsters monotubs he has 4 individual sections.
