Planting san pedro cuttings

Yesterday I planted some san pedro cuttings, 11 inches long and about 3 pounds each (I have one more to eat). Anyways, I added a very small amount of water to the pot because i read you need to only moisten the soil then plant and not water for 2-4 weeks. The soil on top is dry now and I was wonder if I should give it more water now and not water for 2-4 weeks or let it sit that long. The soil i used was already a tiny bit moist so i only added some drops of water, almost nothing really. Does anyone have some advice on watering these cacti for me?

Let it sit dry for 1 month or more, until it puts out roots, don't water it, it will rot if you water it without roots...make sure that soil is DRY!

The cactus can't use the water until they have roots. The worst thing you can do is let it sit in wet soil without roots. Slightly moist soil shouldn't be a problem. Just be patient and let it grow some roots before you worry about watering.

Thanks a lot, one more question, it is sitting close to the radiator in my small room because it is the only place with sunlight. I think it drys the soil a lot so it is going to be bone dry soon I don't know if this is going to be good or bad. Lastly, I can only keep the cactus for four more months until I fly back home, so I am thinking that it will not grow much since it is winter. But, will it become stressed in my room not having much sunlight and such and become more potent?

pull that thing outta that soil NOW. then dry the soil BONE dry then only if the cut end of the cactus is properly calloused plant it in the BONE dry soil until it shows roots. If the end isnt calloused enough it could mold because the cactus can put a lot of moisture into the cut end. and with your second question... hmmm a big fat cactus vs a skinny little etoliated one that got no sun. I would think I could get more alks from the fat one.
